T 50 tops 100 premium plates up for grabs in the 102nd open auction on Sept 28, 2019

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is offering 100 exclusive car registration plates encompassing two, three, four and five-digits in its forthcoming 102nd Open Auction. Plates on offer bear (H-I-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Z) codes. The auction will include 20 plates coded EXPO offered for the first time in recognition of Expo 2020 Dubai, which opens on October 20, 2020 year. 


Registration for the auction starts on Sunday 22 September 2019 and bidding kicks-off at 04:30 pm on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 at InterContinental Dubai-Festival City Hotel. Interested bidders can register for the auction either online through (www.rta.ae) or with any of RTA’s Customer’s Happiness Centres at Umm Al Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha. Registration will also be available on the auction day at 02:00 pm. 


“RTA is keen to apply a strict policy built on neutrality, transparency and equitable chances to all bidders during the auctions, be it in open or online. T 50, which is part of an exciting collection of plates on offer, is expected to attract massive attention from number plate enthusiasts. Moreover, we will in this auction for the first time offer 20 plates coded EXPO, which are named after the most important event in the UAE next year: Expo 2020,” said Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency. 


“As these sales are appealing to a wide spectrum of community members, RTA is keen to hold them according to the market requirements with the aim of satisfying the needs of interested clients and making them happier. It is clear that the wide appeal characterizing these auctions generates a positive competition for grabbing the most fancied plates,” added Al Ali.


Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said: “We highly appreciate the efforts of the RTA in supporting us to host an exceptional World Expo in line with the directives of our wise leadership. RTA’s support is invaluable as they develop a number of projects that will offer a seamless and unique transport experience for millions of visitors to Expo from all over the world. 


“The plate numbers that will carry the Expo 2020 Dubai logo were chosen to help spread awareness about the world’s greatest show. For example, 1851 was the year of the first ever World Expo, 1970 was the year of the first Emirati participation in a World Expo and 2013 was the year UAE won the bid to host the World Expo for 2020.” 


number plates is subject to a 5% VAT. Each bidder is required to have a traffic file in Dubai, and deposit a security cheque amounting to AED25,000 addressed to Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Bidders have also to pay un-refundable participation fees amounting to AED120 at customer happiness centres at Umm Ramool, Al Barsha and Deira. Clients also have the option to make payment via credit cards by logging to (www.rta.ae), or through Dubai Drive App. 


RTA has dedicated a team at its Call Center before the auction kicks off. This team has been provided with all information relating to the auction and will be ready to respond to customers’ queries about participation or payment.
