Changing A License Plate Number

This service enables you to apply for changing the vehicle's plate number.

Eligibility

Individuals customers, citizens and residents, and companies are eligible to apply for this service.

Required documents

For individuals:

  1. Vehicle ownership certificate
  2. Original emirates ID to update the information in case of an expired ID
  3. Plates of the vehicle to hand over
  4. Report from the police if 1 or both plates are lost and if the plate number of the motorcycle is lost

For companies:

  1. Official letter in Arabic + copy of the trade license + Endorsement of signature and Authorization letter.
  2. Vehicle ownership certificate.
  3. Original emirates ID to update the information in case of an expired ID
  4. Plates of the vehicle to hand over.
  5. Report from the police if 1 or both plates are lost and if the plate number of the motorcycle is lost.

  • Vehicle ownership certificate
  • Vehicle plate numbers
  • Expiry sticker.

Service fees

  • 35 AED short plate
  • 50 AED long plate
  • 50 AED for issuing new ownership certificate
  • 10 AED expiry sticker
  • 200 AED for Dubai branded plates
  • +20knowledge and innovation fees.

Ways to apply

Process

Through website or mobile application:

  • The customer logs in using the username and password
  • The customer uploads the required documents
  • The customer is required to settle the fees by credit card
  • The customer receives the certificate and the new plates from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha and hands over the old plates.

Through service centres or service providers:

  • The customer submits the required documents
  • The customer is required to settle the fees to get the receipt
  • The customer receives the plates and the ownership certificate of the vehicle.

Through call centre:

  • The customer contacts the call centre on the following number: 8009090
  • The customer provides the call centre with the number of the traffic file
  • The customer is required to settle the fees by credit card
  • The customer receives the certificate and the new plates from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha and hands over the old plates.

Terms and conditions

  • The customer or the legal representative must be present in person
  • The customer is required to settle all the traffic fines before receiving this service.

FAQs

  • Question 1: Should the customer bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the bank to change the plate number if the vehicle is under mortgage?

Answer 1: No, the customer does not need an NOC from the bank.

  • Question 2: Can the customer change the vehicle plate number if the residence visa is issued in another emirate?

Answer 2: Yes, if the residence visa or the Emirates ID is valid.
