Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will host the International Commission for Driver Testing Congress (CIECA Congress), at the Dubai World Trade Center (6th-7th March 2024). The congress will feature 16 prominent international speakers, alongside the participation of driving institutes and universities across the nation in addition to several RTA agencies and sectors. This event, which will be staged for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region is themed: Smart Driving in Future Cities. The event would showcase an array of cutting-edge driver training technologies to match the changing landscape of traffic safety.

CIECA

Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the International Commission for Driver Testing Congress (CIECA) is a global organisation specialising in driver assessment and road safety. Its core mission revolves around enhancing driving standards, as well as innovating training and safety programmes. CIECA has a membership comprising 69 entities from 38 nations, and RTA has held a full membership status in this esteemed international body for a decade.

Last year, a delegation from CIECA paid a visit to the Drivers Licensing Department at RTA’s Licensing Agency and reviewed several aspects of business processes. The delegation checked the customer journey (Driver Licensing System) for obtaining a driving license in Dubai, service delivery channels, detailed procedures of the knowledge test, smart yard test, practical assessment, and smart track test. The delegation familiarised themselves with the roles and responsibilities of the Licensing Agency, RTA’s organisational chart, Dubai's driver training curricula, the customer journey within driving institutes, management protocols for trainer, lecturer, and examiner permits, as well as the permit acquisition process. This delegation comprised 14 members from Lithuania, Belgium, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Sweden.
