Holding workshops to promote 13th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport
The Supreme Committee of the Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST) in RTA, conducted a series of awareness workshops to promote the 13th edition of DAST, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council. The workshops, which coincided with the UAE's Year of Sustainability 2023, targeted public and private entities, academia (universities and schools), the shipping industry, and the health sector, both at the national and regional levels.
The objective of these workshops was to encourage those entities and academic institutions to participate in the award and showcase their initiatives and contributions toward ensuring safe and smooth transport, besides enhancing their role in developing innovative and sustainable road and transportation systems or services.
The workshops included a detailed visual presentation of the DAST, highlighting its vision, objectives, and recent updates in its categories. Notably, the award has expanded to encompass three main categories, up from the previous two. These include the Initiatives category, the Research and Development (R&D) category, and the Special Honours category.

The Supreme Committee of DAST has revamped the structure of categories and prizes for the 13th edition. Under the Initiatives Category, there are five sub-categories: the Outstanding Sustainable Transport Award, Initiatives in Mobility Management Award, Initiatives in Transportation Safety Award, Initiatives in Environmental Protection Award, and Initiatives for People of Determination Award. Participation in this category is open to entities from the Middle East and North Africa region.
Research and Development (R&D) Category: This category encompasses two awards: the Best Student Project/Research Award, and the Best Academic Research/Project Award. Participation is open to entities from the Middle East and North Africa region.
Special Honours Category: This category features three awards: the Best Consultant in the Field of Sustainability Award, the Best Contractor in the Field of Sustainability Award, and the Best Partner in the Field of Sustainability Award, exclusively open to participants within the UAE.
DAST stands as a practical manifestation of RTA’s strategy to realise its vision to become “The world leader in seamless & sustainable mobility” in line with the ongoing sweeping development in Dubai encompassing commerce, economy, tourism, real estate, and other sectors.
