The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has received a delegation from the Ministry of Health and Prevention to briefe them on the best corporate governance practices. The visit was in line with RTA’s strategy aimed at exchanging experience and knowledge with all entities of Dubai Government.

“The visit focused on reviewing governance & audit standards the RTA adopts to nurture an environment conducive to integrity, transparency, justice and accountability. The visit was intended to share corporate governance experience in the interest of both parties, and review the organisational chart of units overseeing & monitoring governance practices,” said Abdullah Al Jawi, Director of RTA’s Internal Audit.

A presentation was made spotlighting governance audit responsibilities; which include internal control of strategic activities to identify the scope of auditing governance and integrating it into the annual audit plan. The presentation covered counselling services to organisational units about issues related to audit and monitoring to ensure compliance with the applicable policies and regulations. It also screened policies and principles of corporate governance, internal audit policy, anti-fraud strategy, and ‘Al Hares’ Program for reporting financial violations.

Several queries were raised; which triggered rich discussion and helped the exchange of views and ideas. The visiting delegation praised RTA’s experience in the field of internal audit and corporate governance and stressed that it would boost the integration and cooperation of both parties in this regard
