- Take an eye test at one of the Eye Test Centres.
- Log in using your valid Emirates ID, passport, or UAE Pass.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered phone number.
- Select Renewing a Driving Licence from Drivers Licensing Services list.
- Confirm your Driving Licence details before its issuance.
- Select the delivery method (electronic licence through the RTA Dubai App wallet, Self Service Machines, or delivery service).
- Pay all fines and fees.
- Receive the licence as a Digital Driving Licence. You can receive a physical copy through:

- Delivery service, with the fees as follows:
- Standard delivery: AED 20
- Same day delivery: AED 35
- Delivery within 2 hours: AED 50
- International delivery: AED 50.
- Receive the licence through the RTA Dubai App (My Docs) , and add it to your Apple or Samsung Wallet, if any.
If the Driving Licence expired more than 10 years ago or wasn't issued after passing the Road Test
- Log in with your account or by entering one of the following details:
- Emirates ID and expiry date
- UAE Pass
- Driving Licence number and issuance date
- Traffic File number and your date of birth.
- Select Renewing a Driving Licence from Drivers Licensing Services list.
- Receive a notification from the system informing you that your licence expired more than 10 years ago and that an Evaluation Test is needed.
- Book the Evaluation Test appointment.
- Select the institute to take the test.
- Pay the fees.
- Pass the Evaluation Test.
- Receive the licence as a Digital Driving Licence. You can receive a physical copy through:
- Self Service Machines
- Delivery service, with the fees as follows:
- Standard delivery: AED 20

Important to Know
You Should Know
- The renewal date is calculated from the application submission date for all customer categories.
- If you're 21 or older, you can renew your licence 6 months before its expiry date.
- If you're younger than 21, you can renew your licence 3 months before its expiry date.
- The renewal delay fine is AED 10 per month calculated from the expiry date of the licence, with a maximum of AED 500.
- The validity of the medical test is 6 months.
- The validity of the eye test is 3 years.
- The validity of the temporary licence varies according to the period you set to receive the Driving Licence, and it ranges from 5 to a maximum of 15 days.
- You can't renew a temporary or interim Driving Licence.
- Your photo is retrieved from the Emirates ID scanner when renewing the Driving Licence.
- If you're a Marsoom holder with an expired Passport, you can renew your licence for a maximum period of 1 year.
- If you're a diplomat, Marsoom holder, or son of an Emirati woman, you must visit RTA Customer Happiness Centre Umm Ramool , Al Manarah , Al Twar , Deira , Al Barsha , or Al Kifaf to apply for the service in order to fulfil the requirements for your exceptions.
- You can request the mobile truck service to take an eye test and renew the Driving Licence.
- The Driving Licence to be renewed mustn't have been expired for more than 10 years and must be in "with owner" in the system.
- If your Driving Licence expired more than 10 years ago, you must take an Evaluation Test to renew it.
- If you have more than one category on your Driving Licence which expired more than 10 years ago, you must take one Evaluation Test, for light vehicle category. When you pass the test, all the categories will be included in the Driving Licence, without the need to take all the tests.
- If you hold a Driving Licence from an exception country, you're exempted from the Evaluation Test when renewing your Dubai Driving Licence, regardless of your nationality.
