  1. Log in using your username and password, or UAE Pass.
  2. Select Register New Vehicle from Vehicle Licensing Services .
  3. Select Apply for a Possession Certificate of a Non-Registered Vehicle .
  4. Enter the vehicle details and upload the documents.
  5. The documents are reviewed within 1 working day.
  6. Receive a notification to proceed.
  7. Select the Vehicle Inspection Centre and book an appointment or go directly to the Inspection Centre to carry out the technical inspection.
  8. Receive the Vehicle Inspection Certificate and complete the transaction on RTA website.
  9. Your ID is confirmed through the UAE Pass.
  10. Pay the fees.
  11. Receive the electronic certificate through SMS and email.

  6. Receive a notification to proceed.
  7. Review the details and proceed using your UAE Pass.
  8. Pay the fees.
  9. Receive the certificate through the selected courier method.

Important to Know

You Should Know

  1. A Possession Certificate issued in another emirate can't be used to register a vehicle in Dubai.
  2. You or your legal representative must be present in person when applying at Customer Happiness or Inspection Centres.
  3. If you're a resident, you're entitled to possess a maximum of 3 vehicles in the Traffic File.
  4. If you're a GCC national, and you can't provide an Emirates ID, you must provide a document proving one of the following:
    • You're working in a governmental or semi-governmental entity in Dubai.
    • You're an owner, investor, or student in Dubai.
  5. On Sundays,  Al Yalayis Vehicle Testing and  Muhaisna Shamil centres only provide inspection services.

FAQs

  1. Q: What's the process if I have a Possession Certificate and want to register the vehicle under someone else's name?
    • A: You can register the vehicle directly under the buyer's name. You aren't required to transfer the possession to the buyer before registration. You must pay the selling fees (AED 50) and the buyer must pay the registration fees.
