Project Description

• Improving Manama Street and widening its junctions
• Upgrading the Manama Street intersection at the entrance to International City to a signalised intersection to allow traffic flow in all directions
• Construction of a flyover with three lanes in each direction for traffic to cross Manama Street freely
• Improving the Manama Street-Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection and widening the flyover above Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from three to four Lanes in each direction
• Construction of a service road parallel to Al Awir Road to separate the traffic flow on the main road from the traffic heading to International City

Project Benefits

• Reduces the distance to Ras Al Khor Road for vehicles leaving International City (previously Al Awir Road)
• Increases the capacity of Nouakchott Street from one to two lanes in each direction
• Increases Manama Street's capacity by 1,500 vehicles per hour in each direction
• Increases the capacity of the flyover above Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from 4,500 to 6,000 vehicles per hour
