Construction of an 800-metre-long tunnel featuring four lanes in each direction, aimed at enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion.

The tunnel is part of the broader Umm Suqeim Street Improvement Project, extending from its intersection with Al Khail Road to its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

The project also includes the development of a surface-level junction controlled by traffic signals to improve traffic regulation and safety.

The tunnel forms part of the Umm Suqeim Corridor Development, which enhances connectivity between four key strategic corridors in Dubai: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road.

Increases the road’s capacity to accommodate up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

Significantly improves travel time, reducing the journey between Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road by 61% — from 9.7 minutes to just 3.8 minutes.
