This service enables you to personalise your anonymous Silver or Gold nol card, or apply for a Personal nol card, which has the same features and advantages of registered Silver/Gold cards but comes with different categories (Senior citizens and residents, Regular for adults, Students, Social Affairs and People of Determination).

All individual customers above 5 years old are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents

Adults (regular card)

  1. Copy of the valid Emirates ID (front and back)
  2. Personal photograph with a white background.

People of Determination (Resident)

  1. Copy of the valid Emirates ID (front and back)
  2. Personal photograph with a white background
  3. Copy of People of Determination card or Sanad Card.

People of Determination (Tourist)

  1. Copy of the Passport or ID card
  2. Personal photograph with a white background
  3. An official document issued by the competent authorities in the applicant's country, stating that the person requesting the permit is a Person of Determination or requires special assistance.

Note: All submitted documents should be in Arabic or English, otherwise the customer is requested to submit a legalised translation to process the application.

Students (From 5 to 23 years old)

  1. Copy of the valid Emirates ID (front and back)
  2. Personal photograph with a white background
  3. An official document proving that the applicant is a current student in one of the UAE schools.

Senior Citizens and residents (60 years old and above)

  1. Copy of the valid Emirates ID (front and back)
  2. Recent personal photograph with a white background.

Social Affairs Beneficiaries

  1. Copy of the valid Emirates ID (front and back)
  2. Personal photograph with a white background
  3. An official and valid letter/document from the Community Development Authority stating that the customer is entitled for social assistance.

Through RTA Website or RTA Dubai Smart App

To obtain a New Personal nol Card

  1. The customer accesses Apply for a Personal nol Card page on the website or the smart app.
  2. The customer selects Apply for a New Personal nol Card.
  3. The customer fills in the service application form (card type, category, personal information, proof of identity information, contact information and delivery address).
  4. The customer uploads the required documents.
  5. The customer settles the fees by credit or debit card.
  6. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS.
  7. The customer receives SMS updates on his application and card status throughout the process.
  8. The customer receives his card within 4 working days of the application submission date.

To Personalise the Existing Silver/Gold Card

  1. The customer accesses Apply for a Personal nol Card page on the website or the smart app.
  2. The customer selects Personalise your Existing Silver/Gold Card.
  3. The customer enters his nol tag ID number and confirms it.
  4. The customer fills in the service application form with his personal and contact information.
  5. The customer uploads the Emirates ID copies.
  6. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  7. The customer receives confirmation through SMS.
  8. The customer visits any metro station to activate the card personalisation.

Through nol Pay App

To obtain a New Personal nol Card

  1. The customer logs in to his account with his UAE pass.
  2. The customer selects Apply for a Personal nol Card.
  3. The customer authorises nol Pay to access his full information (name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through his UAE pass.
  4. The customer enters the following information:
    • Card type
    • Travel pass
    • Customer Segment
    • Card design
    • Delivery address
  5. Uploads personal photo.
  6. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  7. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS.
  8. The customer receives SMS updates on his application and card status throughout the process.
  9. If the customer selects the physical card, he receives it within 4 working days of the application submission date. If the customer selects the digital card, he can download it within 4 working days of the application submission date.

To Personalise the Existing Silver/Gold Card

  1. The customer logs in to his account with his UAE pass.
  2. The customer selects Personalise your Existing Silver/Gold Card.
  3. The customer authorises nol Pay to access his full information (name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through his UAE pass.
  4. The customer taps the existing Silver/Gold Card on the back of the phone with NFC feature.
  5. The customer confirms all personal information (nol tag ID, phone number, full name and email address).
  6. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  7. The customer submits the application.
  8. The anonymous card is successfully personalised.

Through Zoom Shops in metro stations (for adults only) - nol Express Service

  1. The customer heads to the Zoom shop at the Metro station.
  2. The customer provides his Emirates ID.
  3. The customer settles the fees.
  4. The customer receives the card.

  • Student card: 1 year renewable concession period. After the end of the year, the card charges the regular fare without the 50% discount, unless the customer applies again for a student nol card if he is still eligible.

Terms and conditions
  • Student Cards:
    • The concession period is valid for 1 year only and must be renewed once expired to keep benefitting from the concession, otherwise, the student card can be used for transport and non-transport services and charged as per the regular/standard travel fees.
    • The student card discount is valid only on the Bus, Tram and Metro if the concession is valid.
    • The student’s age must be between 5 and 23 years.
  • Senior card: The customer’s age must be 60 years and above.
  • The printed name on the personal nol card is the first and last name of the customer as stated on the Emirates ID.
  • Personal nol card categories with concession and discount (students, senior citizens and residents, social affairs and People of Determination) are only applicable to the regular/silver class only.
  • Personal nol card categories with concession and discount are only applicable in Metro, Bus and Tram.
  • Personal nol cards with Gold class are available for the adults category only.
  • Personal nol card delivery is free of charge.
  • Personal or registered card holders receive a PIN code.
  • The customer must have the PIN code of the personal and registered card to be able to manage his card's file through the website or through the smart application.
  • In case of any delay in receiving the card, the customer can contact RTA Call Centre on 8009090. The customer can also follow up on the process through the website.
  • The customer should adhere to the size and type of the supporting documents: png or jpeg format /size less than 2 MB.
  • Only adults are eligible to apply in Zoom shops through nol express service.
  • Blocked nol cards cannot be re-activated.
  • nol card registration fees are non- refundable and non-transferable.
  • Personal nol card applications are rejected without refund if they did not meet the application conditions, or the customer didn’t confirm or update the required documents within three working days.
  • Anonymous nol card applications are rejected without refund if they did not meet the application conditions.
  • Returned /uncollected personal nol cards are blocked without refund if the customer did not claim them within 30 working days.
  • If the card was lost or stolen, the cardholder is responsible for any usage on his card for a period of 48 hours, which starts from the moment he notifies RTA that the card was stolen or lost. RTA will not be responsible for the available balance on the card until 48 hours have passed.
  • Customers cannot personalise their anonymous card in case it was lost, stolen, faulty or damaged; as the personalisation won't be activated.
  • To activate the personalisation of the existing Silver/Gold nol card the customer must tap the nol card for check in and check out in the Metro gates located at any Metro station.
  • Unaccompanied minor policy:
    • Below 8: not recommended to use public transport (metro, tram, buses and marine transportation) unless accompanied by adults.
    • Between 8-11: the permit must be issued by one of the parents to allow the child to travel alone (with the exception of intercity buses).
    • 12 and above: allowed to use public transport without being accompanied by adults.
FAQs
  • Question 1: Can the customer use the personal nol card of another person?

Answer 1: No, the personal nol card must be used by the card owner only.

  • Question 2: How can the customer cancel or block a lost or stolen card?

Answer 2: In case the card was lost or stolen, the customer should immediately apply for a refund through the available channels. For personal and registered nol card, the customer can apply online through Refund nol Cards Balance service or through the MLT devices. The card is automatically blocked.

  • Question 3: What’s the procedure if the customer wants to activate the Silver/Gold nol card registration?

Answer 3: The customer receives an SMS once the registration is approved. He should then use the card on the Metro gates (check in and check out) to activate the card from anonymous to registered.

  • Question 4: What is the PIN code used for?

Answer 4: The Pin code is useful for security purposes when applying for a refund.

  • Question 5: Who delivers the nol card?

Answer 5: A company registered in RTA delivers the card to the customer’s registered address.

  • The personal nol card (regular class) has multiple categories with renewable concessions for students, senior citizens and residents, social affairs and People of Determination.
  • Personal and Registered nol cards balance can be topped up to 5,000 AED.
  • Personal and Registered nol cards can load Travel Pass products of 30, 90 and 365 days (one at a time).
  • It has a secure card balance in case of loss or theft, and the customer can apply for a refund through online channels using his PIN code.
  • The card is used on RTA public transport and for purchases in all retail outlets.
