Apply for a Supplementary Signs Installation Permit

This service enables you to apply for a permit or to renew a permit to install supplementary information signs in accordance with the relevant decisions and regulations. This service aims at guiding road users to cultural, touristic, commercial and services sites and other landmarks in Dubai.

Eligibility
Governmental entities and private facilities that have a permit from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents
  1. Affection plan issued by Dubai Municipality
  2. Valid trade license
  3. Affection plan specifying the suggested locations to install the signs
  4. All other documents requested by the concerned department.
Service fees

For 1 month

  • 100 AED/sign as request fee
  • 3,500 AED/sign on local roads and collector roads
  • 5,000 AED/sign on highways and arterial roads.

For 1 year

  • 100 AED/sign as request fee
  • 15,000 AED/sign on local roads and collector roads
  • 25,000 AED/sign on highways and arterial roads.
Average processing time
  • 10 minutes.
Service Centres
  • RTA headquarters – Umm Ramool, Traffic and Roads Agency, Traffic Department, 7th floor, Bloc C, from Sunday to Thursday between 7.30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - Link to map locator.
Process

Through service centre

  • The customer submits the required documents
  • The customer receives a response through fax (if the customer does not receive a response within 10 days after submitting the request, he must follow up on it in person)
  • In case of a preliminary approval, the customer is required to settle the yearly fees at the centre to receive a receipt
  • The customer submits the receipt to the Traffic Department which in turn opens a service request to start designing the sign and calculating the fees
  • The customer is informed about the fees through a financial claim sent through email or received upon his personal presence at the centre
  • The customer is required to settle the fees at the centre
  • The customer receives the receipt and submits it to the centre to start the installation works.

Note: Federal and governmental centres (authorities and institutions) are entitled to submit the request through a letter addressed to the Traffic Department along with the required documents.

Validity
  • Preliminary approval: 3 months
  • Sign: 1 month or 1 year (according to the permit).
