Replacing A Lost Or Damaged License Plate

This service enables you to apply for replacing a lost or damaged plate.

Eligibility

Individual customers, citizens and residents, and companies that own private vehicles are eligible to apply for this service.

Required documents

  1. Police report
  2. Original Emirates ID to update the information in case of an expired ID
  3. Vehicle ownership certificate
  4. Official letter in Arabic from the company + copy of the trade license if the vehicle is owned by a company
  5. Investigation report in case the customer loses the plates in another emirate

New plates.

  • 35 AED short plate
  • 50 AED long plate
  • 10 AED sticker fee if the back plate is lost.

Ways to apply

Process

Through website and mobile application:

  • The customer logs in using the username and password
  • The customer enters the number of the plate and its code
  • The customer proceeds to replacing lost or damaged plates
  • The customer is required to settle the fees and the traffic fines by credit card
  • The customer receives the plates from the centre or through a courier company for a charge of 20 AED.

Through service centres:

  • The customer presents the required documents at the service centre
  • The customer is required to settle the fees and the traffic fines
  • The customer receives the plates.

Through call centre:

  • The customer contacts the call centre on the following number: 8009090
  • The customer provides the call centre with the number of the plate and its code
  • The customer is required to pay the fees and the traffic fines by credit card
  • The customer receives the plates from the centre or through a courier company for a charge of 20 AED.

Terms and conditions

  • The customer or the legal representative must be present in person
  • The customer is required to settle all the traffic fines before receiving this service
  • The customer must provide the plate in case it is damaged.

FAQs

  • Question 1: If the customer loses the plates in another country (Saudi Arabia), what is the procedure to replace them?

Answer 1:

  • In case of losing 1 plate, the customer can drive back to UAE and must present a police report.
  • In case of losing 2 plates, RTA forbids the customer from driving the vehicle back to UAE. The customer must present a police report.
