Applying For A Vehicle Possession Certificate

This service enables you to apply for a vehicle possession certificate stating the name of the owner and the data of the vehicle.

Eligibility

Individual customers, citizens and residents, and companies are eligible to apply for this service.

Required documents

  1. Traffic file of the buyer.
  2. If the customer does not have a traffic file: Copy of the passport or the original Emirates ID for individuals, and a copy of the trade license for companies
  3. If the vehicle is under mortgage: Electronic mortgage release
  4. Vehicle registration certificate
  5. Official letter in Arabic from the company + copy of the trade license if the vehicle is owned by a company
  6. Original Emirates ID to update the information in case of an expired ID
  7. Vehicle Plates.
  8. If 1 or both plates are lost: Police report
  9. If the motorcycle plate is lost: Police report

Vehicle possession certificate.

Ways to apply

Process

Through website or mobile application:

  • The customer uploads the vehicle data and applies for the service.
  • The customer is required to settle the fees and the traffic fines.
  • The customer receives the certificate from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or AL Barsha and hands over the plates.

Through service centres or service providers:

  • The customer presents the required documents.
  • The customer is required to settle the fees.
  • The customer receives the receipt and the certificate and hands over the plates.

Through call centre:

  • The customer contacts the call centre on the following number: 8009090.
  • The customer provides the vehicle's data.
  • The customer is required to settle the fees and the traffic fines.
  • The customer receives the certificate from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha and hands over the plates.

Terms and conditions

  • The possession certificate does not allow its holder to drive the vehicle.
  • The customer is required to settle all the traffic fines before receiving this service.
  • The customer is required to pay the licensing fees difference (if any).
  • The customer or the legal representative must be present in person.
  • When transferring the vehicle ownership to a new owner, the terms and conditions relevant to the vehicle's size and type apply.
