Replacing A Lost Or Damaged Vehicle Ownership Certificate

This service enables you to apply for replacing a lost or damaged vehicle ownership certificate of a vehicle registered in Dubai.

Eligibility

Individual customers and companies are eligible to apply for this service.

Required documents

For companies:

  1. Official letter in Arabic from the company + copy of the valid trade license

For individuals:

  1. Emirates ID to update the information in case of an expiry and to confirm customer identity.

Output

Vehicle ownership.

50 AED.

Process

Through website or mobile application:

  • The customer logs in using the username and password
  • The customer proceeds to replacing a lost or damaged vehicle ownership certificate
  • The customer is required to settle the fees by credit card
  • The customer receives the certificate from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha or through a courier company for a charge of 25 AED.

Through kiosks:

  • The customer chooses online services and proceeds to the desired service
  • The customer enters the vehicle's information
  • The customer receives the ownership certificate from the printer of the kiosk.

Through service centres or service providers:

  • The customer presents the required documents
  • The customer is required to settle the fees
  • The customer receives the certificate.

Through call centre:

  • The customer contacts the call centre on the following number: 8009090
  • The customer requests the replacement of a lost or damaged vehicle ownership certificate
  • The customer is required to settle the fees by credit card
  • The customer receives the certificate from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha or through a courier company for a charge of 25 AED.

Terms and conditions

  • Question 1: When is the ownership e-card implemented for individuals?

Answer 1: Phase 1 on January 1, 2018: Government, rental and taxi vehicles.

Phase 2 on May 1, 2018: diplomatic and corporate vehicles.

Phase 3 on September 1, 2018: Individuals vehicles.
  • Question 2: What is permanent ownership and what details it includes?

Answer 2: Permanent ownership is an ownership card provided to the customer one time only and it includes all the vehicle’s details featured on the current license except for the expiry date and insurance details.

  • Question 3: What is ownership e-card and what details it includes?

Answer 3: The ownership e-card is an electronic document called (Vehicle License) sent to the customer via email. It includes all the ownership details including the expiry date, mortgage and insurance. This e-card is issued by the Road and Transport Authority and the customer has to print it or save it on their phone to show it to concerned authorities when needed.

  • Question 4: How can customers print the ownership e-card or any other document in case they didn’t receive an email or they wanted to verify the vehicle details, renewal date and insurance details?

Answer 4: The ownership e-card may be printed as follows:

-Login to rta.ae.

-Select Licensing services.

-Scroll down the Certificate Verification service and press (Click Here).

-Select service type (Vehicle License) then enter the vehicle details to show the print order.

  • Question 5: What details are featured on the vehicle license?

Answer 5: The vehicle license features all the details related to the vehicle including the expiry date, the mortgage and the insurance details. It is sent via email to the customer in a printable format.

  • Question 6: What happens when police patrols or officers request the ownership card?

Answer 6: The customer shows the ownership e-card featured in RTA applications and saved on his phone, or shows the printed copy of the e-card.

  • Question 7: How does the customer show the e-card to the licensing department?

Answer 7: The customer shows the ownership e-card featured in RTA applications and saved on his phone, or shows the printed copy of the e-card.

  • Question 8: What is required when crossing the borders?

Answer 8: For UAE and GCC countries:

-Permanent ownership card and vehicle license.

-If the costumer is not from GCC countries: Permanent ownership card, vehicle license, tourist certificate, and trip ticket

For other countries:

-Permanent ownership card, vehicle license, tourist certificate, and trip ticket.

  • Question 9: How can the customer access the insurance details?

Answer 9: The insurance details are featured on the ownership e-card accessible through RTA mobile application, or on the printed copy of the vehicle license.

  • Question 10: How can the customer access the mortgage details?

Answer 10: Mortgage details are features on all the documents including the permanent ownership.

  • Question 11: What happens when the ownership details are amended?

Answer 11: In case any of the vehicle details get amended such as changing the plate number or the color:

-Details are updated on the permanent ownership and a new certificate is issued against the due fee.

-Details are updated on the ownership e-card and the vehicle’s license.

  • Question 12: What happens in case of loss or damage of the permanent ownership certificate?

Answer 12: A new copy is issued against the due fee.

  • Question 13: When the individual phase is implemented and in case the customer doesn’t have RTA application, can the vehicle license be printed through the customer service center?

Answer 13: There is no need for the customer service representative to print the vehicle license. The customer may print it through the link sent via email.

  • Question 14: Is the customer obliged to replace the vehicle license once the electronic ownership phase implemented?

Answer 14: The ownership certificate is replaced only upon its renewal, or in case of replacement of lost/damaged license or change in ownership document such as change of color or plate number or adding or redeeming a mortgage.

  • Question 15: In case the customer’s phone number was registered wrongly, how can the link be resent to him?

Answer 15: The customers shall update their personal details though RTA Call Center: 8009090. Also he can print the ownership e-card as follows:

-Login to rta.ae.

-Select Licensing services.

-Scroll down the Certificate Verification service and press (Click Here).

-Select service type (Vehicle License) then enter the vehicle details to show the print order.

  • Question 16: How can customers check the expiry date of their vehicle license?

Answer 16: The vehicle’s expiry date can be checked in several ways:

-Through the details featured on the vehicle’s license.

-Through the short messages sent to the customers’ mobile numbers.
