Apply for a Safari Driving Permit

This service enables you to apply for a safari driving permit in the Emirate of Dubai.

Individual customers, citizens and residents, who have a light vehicle driving licence issued in the UAE, and work at a tourism company that organizes safaris, are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents
  1. Original Emirates ID
  2. Applicant file at the institute.
Service fees
  • 300 AED permit fees
  • +20 AED Knowledge and Innovation fees.
Process time
  • 1 visit to the driving training institute/centre.

Through driving institutes

  • The customer submits the required documents at the institute.
  • The customer undergoes the training and then takes the test in the presence of an examiner from RTA.
    • In case of failure, the customer undergoes additional training and books another date to take the test.
    • In case of success, the customer receives a safari driving permit for 1 year.
Average waiting time
  • Up to 10 minutes.
  • 1 year.

Terms and conditions
  • The residents must be sponsored by a tourism company.
  • The customer must be 21 years old and above.
  • The customer must have a valid driving licence issued in the UAE for a minimum of 2 years.
  • The customer must be medically fit (must have valid eye test results).
  • The customer must pass the training program for tourist guide (Safari) by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
  • The customer must pass all the tests assessed by the agency.
