Apply for a Permit for Right of Way Services for the Public - Footpath Modification and Hatching and Painting Roads

This service enables you to obtain a permit to lower the level of the footpath in front of a residential villa, and to obtain the approval to conduct hatching works (no parking zone) on the road shoulder or parking spaces that affect the access to private residential villas.

Required documents
  1. Passport copy or Emirates ID
  2. Affection plan from Dubai Municipality (for projects in areas not regulated by Dubai Municipality)
  3. Approved setting out plan by Dubai Municipality
  4. Photos of the Right-of-Way in front of the entrance

  • This service is free.
Process time

Footpath modification:

  • 3 working days (for approval or rejection)
  • 2 weeks after approval of the NOC from the concerned authorities (for implementation).

Hatching and painting:

  • 7 working days (for approval or rejection)
  • 3 weeks (for implementation).

Process
  1. The customer logs in to the ROW Permits System page on the website.
  2. The customer fills in his information.
  3. The customer marks the proposed work location on the map.
  4. The customer enters the contractor's contact information for technical discussion, if required.
  5. The customer enters the project's information.
  6. The customer uploads the required documents.
  7. The customer clicks Submit to generate the application number.
  8. The customer receives application approval and fee payment link within 3 to 7 days through SMS and website.
  9. The customer downloads the permit from the application page.
  10. If the application is rejected, the customer receives the rejection reasons by email.

  • Footpath modification permit (lowering the footpath level in front of the entry)
  • Hatching and painting permit (hatching the parking to forbid parking in front of the entry).
Terms and conditions
  • The customer can apply for hatching and painting roads only through RTA Call Centre or the ROW Permits System.
  • Works related to lowering the footpath or hatching are conducted by the Roads and Facilities Maintenance Department.
