Apply for Amending a Vehicle Ownership Data

This service enables you to amend the information of the vehicle ownership certificate issued in Dubai.

Eligibility
Individual customers, citizens and residents, and companies are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents

Adding a commercial sticker (for companies):

  1. Vehicle ownership certificate
  2. Official letter in Arabic from the company
  3. Copy of the valid trade license
  4. Endorsement of signature and Authorization letter or the presence of the representative
  5. Vehicle technical inspection certificate
  6. Permit to add a commercial sticker (the customer receives it from the Customer Happiness Centre - Umm Ramool).

Amending the type of the vehicle: truck/Van (cooler) (for companies):

  1. Approval of Dubai Municipality or municipal test certificate from one of RTA's service centers
  2. Official letter in Arabic from the company clarifying the nature of change
  3. Copy of the trade license
  4. Endorsement of signature and Authorization letter
  5. Vehicle technical inspection certificate.

Changing the vehicle's color (for individuals and companies):

  1. Vehicle ownership certificate
  2. Vehicle technical inspection certificate
  3. Letter from the Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police
  4. For individuals: original Emirates ID to update the information in case of an expired ID and to verify the identity of the applicant
  5. For companies: Official letter in Arabic from the company clarifying the nature of change + Copy of the trade license + Endorsement of signature and Authorization letter or the presence of the representative.

Process

Through website or mobile application:

  • The customer logs in using the username and password
  • The customer enters the vehicle's information
  • The customer is required to settle the fees and the traffic fines
  • The customer receives the amended ownership certificate from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha or through a courier company for a charge of 25 AED. The courier company makes 3 attempts to deliver the certificate before sending it back to the centre where the customer collects it.

Note: The customer can apply for this service through the website or the mobile application only when amending the insurance or mortgage information or the vehicle's specifications.

Through service centres or service providers:

  • The customer presents the required documents
  • The customer is required to settle the fees
  • The customer receives the certificate.

Through call centre:

  • The customer contacts the call centre on the following number: 8009090
  • The customer requests the amendment of the vehicle's information
  • The customer is required to settle the fees by credit card or e-wallet
  • The customer receives the certificate from the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira or Al Barsha or through a courier company for a charge of 25 AED. The courier company makes 3 attempts to deliver the service before sending it back to the centre where the customer collects it.

Same validity period as the original ownership certificate.

Terms and conditions
  • The customer must pay all the traffic fines before receiving this service
  • The customer must check the validity of the vehicle's ownership
  • In case of amending the mortgage information, the customer must electronically add the mortgage or redeem it at the bank.
  • To change the insurance company, the customer must electronically enter the new insurance and cancel the old one that's already in the system
  • The customer cannot paint the vehicle using the colors designated for armed forces and government departments and cannot use sticky window sun shades.

  • Question 1: When was the ownership e-card implemented for individuals?

Answer 1:

    • Phase 1 on January 1, 2018: Government, rental and taxi vehicles.
    • Phase 2 on May 1, 2018: diplomatic and corporate vehicles.
    • Phase 3 on September 1, 2018: Individuals vehicles.
  • Question 2: What is ownership e-card and what details it includes?

Answer 2: The ownership e-card is an electronic document called (Vehicle License) sent to the customer via email. It includes all the ownership details including the expiry date, mortgage and insurance. This e-card is issued by the Road and Transport Authority and the customer has to print it or save it on their phone to show it to concerned authorities when needed.

  • Question 3: How can customers print the ownership e-card or any other document in case they didn’t receive an email or they wanted to verify the vehicle details, renewal date and insurance details?

Answer 3: The ownership e-card may be printed as follows:

    • Login to rta.ae.
    • Select Licensing services.
    • Scroll down the Certificate Verification service and press "Click Here".
    • Select service type "Vehicle License" then enter the vehicle details to show the print order.
  • Question 4: What details are featured on the vehicle license?

Answer 4: The vehicle license features all the details related to the vehicle including the expiry date, the mortgage and the insurance details. It is sent via email to the customer in a printable format.

  • Question 5: What happens when police patrols or officers request the ownership card?

Answer 5: The customer shows the ownership e-card featured in RTA applications and saved on his phone, or shows the printed copy of the e-card.

  • Question 6: How does the customer show the e-card to the licensing department?

Answer 6: The customer shows the ownership e-card featured in RTA applications and saved on his phone, or shows the printed copy of the e-card.

  • Question 7: How can the customer access the insurance details?

Answer 7: The insurance details are featured on the ownership e-card accessible through RTA mobile application, or on the printed copy of the vehicle license.

  • Question 8: How can the customer access the mortgage details?

Answer 8: Mortgage details are features on all the documents.

  • Question 9: What happens when the ownership details are amended?

Answer 9: In case any of the vehicle details get amended such as changing the plate number or the color:

    • Details are updated on the ownership e-card and the vehicle’s license.
  • Question 10: What happens in case of loss or damage of the permanent ownership certificate?

Answer 10: A new copy is issued against the due fee.

  • Question 11: In case the customer doesn’t have RTA application, can the vehicle license be printed through the customer service center?

Answer 11: There is no need for the customer service representative to print the vehicle license. The customer may print it through the link sent via email.

  • Question 12: Is the customer obliged to replace the vehicle license once the electronic ownership phase implemented?

Answer 12: The ownership certificate is replaced only upon its renewal, or in case of replacement of lost/damaged license or change in ownership document such as change of color or plate number or adding or redeeming a mortgage.

  • Question 13: In case the customer’s phone number was registered wrongly, how can the link be resent to him?

Answer 13: The customers shall update their personal details though RTA Call Center: 8009090. Also he can print the ownership e-card as follows:

  • Question 14: How can customers check the expiry date of their vehicle license?

Answer 14: The vehicle’s expiry date can be checked in several ways:

    • Through the details featured on the vehicle’s license
    • Through the short messages sent to the customers’ mobile numbers.
