His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), stressed RTA’s keenness to participate in GITEX, the world’s largest event for modern technologies, through presenting a comprehensive suite of smart projects and initiatives that embody the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.

Al Tayer said: “Our participation reaffirms RTA’s commitment to embracing the latest digital technologies and AI applications, while driving digital transformation across all our services. This, in turn, enhances operational efficiency, enriches the customer journey, improves the quality of life for residents and visitors, and fosters innovative solutions for sustainable mobility.”

“We are keen at RTA to lead in adopting emerging technologies such as AI, the Internet of Things, and big data analytics to develop a smart and sustainable transport ecosystem that supports community happiness. Our participation in GITEX 2025 provides a platform to showcase projects that embody the transition from digital services to smart services with predictive capabilities and autonomous decision-making.”

Emerging technologies
Al Tayer added: “At RTA, we operate under a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for digital and smart transformation, built on leveraging emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data, and predictive solutions. Our aim is to provide proactive and integrated services that support the quality of life in Dubai and reinforce its position as a global hub for innovation in future technologies. This is part of our Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030, which aspires to make RTA a global leader in AI-powered mobility by enabling an integrated and interconnected ecosystem that enhances quality of life in Dubai.”

“This year, our participation focuses on showcasing a wide range of smart projects that represent a transformative step in our digital transformation journey. These include AI applications, predictive solutions based on big data analytics, and the use of the Internet of Things in managing assets and infrastructure. Through this participation, we also seek to engage with our strategic partners and explore the latest global innovations, thereby enhancing our ability to develop future-oriented solutions in the transport sector,” Al Tayer stated.

Smart Vehicle Network
The Smart Vehicle Network (UTC-UX Fusion) underscores RTA’s leadership in advancing AI-powered traffic management systems and ranks among the most sophisticated solutions of its kind in the region. Developed and operated at the Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Centre, the fully integrated network forms the backbone of traffic signal operations in the emirate, enabling predictive traffic control through AI and real-time data analytics.

The system supports multimodal mobility and is powered by Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) technology, facilitating seamless data exchange between vehicles and connected infrastructure. This enhances the smart driving experience by providing real-time priority to road users. The network has already reduced delays by 25% and cut operational costs by 20% to 30%, reaffirming Dubai’s position as a global leader in deploying future technologies for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable city.

AutoCheck 360
The Auto Vehicle Inspection System (AutoCheck 360) represents a model of government innovation and proactivity in applying AI to operational services. This fully integrated smart system employs computer vision and the Internet of Things to minimise human error and standardise inspection criteria with unprecedented accuracy.

It reduces inspection time from 17 minutes to just 7 minutes, thereby enhancing service efficiency, improving the customer journey, and strengthening road safety. AutoCheck 360 is also one of the first fully integrated smart solutions of its kind in the region for automated vehicle inspection, reaffirming Dubai’s leadership in leveraging technological innovation to serve both people and society.

Aerial taxi
The aerial taxi (Joby S4) is distinguished by its vertical take-off and landing capability. Trial operations have commenced to test the vehicle in Dubai’s local environment, paving the way for the launch of a commercial in-city service.

This pioneering service will offer residents and visitors a fast, safe, and convenient transport option to key destinations across the city. For example, a journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah is expected to take just 10 minutes, compared with approximately 45 minutes by car.
The aerial taxi will also be fully integrated with public transport and individual mobility modes such as e-scooters and bicycles, thereby facilitating multimodal travel, enhancing citywide connectivity, and ensuring a seamless passenger journey.

Smart Mobility Platform for Safe Cities
In a proactive step that reinforces Dubai’s position as a global leader in safe smart mobility, RTA has developed the Smart Mobility Platform for Safe Cities. This centralised system is powered by Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor and manage a wide range of commercial transport operations, including delivery bikes, school buses, and other commercial transport activities.

The platform analyses data transmitted from IoT devices on speed, route adherence, and driver behaviour, with AI assessing this information to identify unsafe practices and initiate immediate corrective measures. It also integrates a predictive data engine that studies traffic patterns to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen public safety.

The platform marks a transformative step towards data-driven governance of smart mobility in Dubai.

Trackless Tram
Through the Trackless Tram project, RTA underscores its leadership in shaping the future of smart public transport, positioning the initiative as a pioneering innovation in autonomous mobility systems.

The system operates without fixed tracks, harnessing optical navigation, GPS, and LiDAR technologies to follow virtual routes with exceptional precision. It employs artificial intelligence to detect obstacles and guide the vehicle autonomously, ensuring high operational flexibility and seamless integration with city traffic.

This breakthrough marks a qualitative leap towards a sustainable and adaptable transport ecosystem that integrates safely and efficiently with urban mobility, while delivering lower operational costs than conventional tram systems.

Safe Tracks Rail Inspection System (ARIIS)
RTA is reinforcing its leadership in smart infrastructure through the Automated Rail Inspection and Intelligent System (ARIIS), an advanced solution for rail inspection and maintenance. The system deploys mobile units equipped with laser scanning and computer vision technologies to identify defects with microscopic accuracy.

It is the first system of its kind in the region to apply intelligent analytics to deliver data-driven recommendations. ARIIS has reduced inspection time by 70%, elevated safety standards, and ensured smoother operation of Dubai Metro. It represents a major step towards proactive asset management in transport, powered by advanced data and intelligent analytics.

Smart digital channels
At GITEX 2025, RTA is presenting the latest advancements in its integrated digital ecosystem, spearheaded by S’hail app – Dubai’s unified digital mobility channel. S’hail exemplifies a pioneering model in providing a seamless mobility experience, offering access to all public and private transport modes within a single platform. It features trip planning, taxi booking, nol card management, and smart notifications via Huawei smartwatches to support upcoming journeys.

RTA is also spotlighting its flagship RTA Dubai app, regarded as one of the most comprehensive smart government applications globally. The app consolidates licensing, parking, fines, and permit services into a unified digital gateway. Complementing these apps are interactive smart kiosks, which provide instant video communication with customer happiness agents, reflecting RTA’s commitment to holistic, proactive, and user-centric digital services.

AI Factory
RTA’s Artificial Intelligence Factory serves as a strategic platform that exemplifies government innovation in building advanced capabilities in data and machine learning. The factory brings together a team of specialised experts dedicated to developing intelligent, self-learning systems that optimise operations and elevate organisational performance. It provides a state-of-the-art research and development environment to transform ideas into practical projects that drive the future of smart mobility in Dubai. The AI Factory underscores RTA’s commitment to sustainable innovation and long-term investment in talent to lead Dubai’s digital transformation journey.
