Mattar Al Tayer’s Statement on RTA Winning Dubai-it Award in the Field of Government
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), expressed his profound pride in RTA’s win of the Dubai-it Award for Institutions in the Field of Government category.
He stressed that the honour bestowed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, is a source of immense pride for all RTA employees and recognition of the Authority’s distinguished record of achievements in developing infrastructure and advancing the transport and mobility system. These achievements have reinforced Dubai’s global standing and leadership in delivering major projects with exceptional speed and quality.
Al Tayer said: “We extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, for their unwavering support for government development and excellence, their commitment to strengthening the future readiness of government entities, and their dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and achievement.”
Al Tayer affirmed that winning the award places a renewed responsibility on RTA to redouble its efforts to enhance corporate performance, accelerate digital transformation, harness artificial intelligence, invest in developing national talent and strengthen partnerships with the private sector. These efforts are aimed at reinforcing Dubai’s approach to delivering exceptional achievements and shaping the future.
He emphasised a fundamental lesson imparted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: every achievement is a stepping stone to an even greater one, and sustaining leadership requires renewed ambition, continuous improvement and constant readiness for the next phase.
Al Tayer added that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has taught us that ambition is measured by what is achieved on the ground and the positive impact those achievements have on people’s lives. Reaching the top demands bold thinking, swift decision-making, agility in responding to change, excellence in execution and working as one team.
He noted that the Dubai-it Award embodies a pioneering philosophy of leadership and government work established by His Highness, rooted in clarity of vision, raising the bar of ambition and translating plans and strategies into projects and initiatives that deliver tangible and sustainable results.
Al Tayer stressed that His Highness’s words, “We say what we do, and we do what we say,” capture the essence of this philosophy, which has made Dubai a global model for turning bold ambitions into exceptional achievements in record time.
Al Tayer said: “RTA had translated this philosophy into a firmly established corporate approach founded on proactive planning, anticipating Dubai’s needs for decades to come, and developing integrated infrastructure that keeps pace with population growth and urban and economic expansion. Major road, bridge and tunnel projects have been delivered at up to twice the global average speed and efficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This reflects RTA’s ability to combine ambitious vision with meticulous planning and swift execution.”
He explained that Dubai Metro stands as one of the evident examples of the Dubai-it philosophy in action. The vision of an advanced urban transport system has been transformed into a world-class project that has redrawn the map of mobility across the emirate and become the backbone of Dubai’s public transport network. The metro has achieved an on-time performance rate of 99.7% while keeping pace with the city’s rapid growth.
RTA continues to expand the metro network by developing the Dubai Metro Blue Line and advancing the Dubai Metro Gold Line project. These efforts are complemented by the expansion of cycling tracks and greater integration across transport modes, supporting a more connected and sustainable city.
Al Tayer highlighted Dubai’s distinctive ability to deliver major projects while shaping the future through innovative solutions and advanced transport technologies. RTA is pressing ahead with the development and operation of autonomous taxis, preparing for the launch of commercial Air Taxi services, and advancing the Dubai Loop project.
He noted that these initiatives reflect the vision of Dubai’s wise leadership to anticipate global transformations, harness innovation to serve people, and strengthen Dubai’s competitiveness as a global testbed for developing and deploying future mobility solutions.
Al Tayer dedicated RTA’s Dubai-it Award win for Institutions in the Field of Government category to the Authority’s employees, whose dedication, commitment and teamwork embody Dubai’s culture of hard work, giving and excellence, as well as to its strategic partners who have contributed to these achievements.
He said: “We pledge to our wise leadership that we will continue working with determination and ambition, embedding the Dubai-it philosophy across our projects and initiatives. We firmly believe that Dubai’s future is shaped by ambitious visions and brought to life through the efforts of its people and the capabilities of its institutions, so that Dubai remains a global model of a city that stays ahead of its time and shapes its future through action and achievement.”
