Dubai Metro enhances resilience and efficiency by connecting Operations and Engineering Control Centres
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), represented by the Rail Agency, has achieved a major milestone in enhancing Dubai Metro’s operational infrastructure through the integration of the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and the Engineering Control Centre (ECC). This development enhances operational flexibility and response efficiency, aligning with RTA’s Strategic Plan 2030, which aims to develop innovative and sustainable transport systems that elevate customer experience to global standards.
Hasan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at RTA’s Rail Agency, explained that this strategic integration has streamlined service recovery procedures and reduced fault response times by up to 80%, reinforcing RTA’s vision to become The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility.
Al Mutawa said: “The integration of the Operations and Engineering Control Centres marks a significant leap in performance. Fault notifications are now transmitted in real time, enabling quicker deployment of first response teams and accelerating service recovery by up to 80%. This unified platform has also streamlined operational procedures, enhancing the overall flexibility and efficiency of the metro network.
“The unified real-time dashboards now offer comprehensive visibility into both operational and technical conditions, enabling early detection and proactive management of potential risks. This integration has markedly enhanced operational performance and improved communication internally and externally, particularly with the public, by ensuring faster and more accurate information flow. The integration of data has also strengthened decision-making, allowing for greater speed, precision, and effectiveness.
“This integration enhances innovation and safety through the adoption of smarter, faster, and more agile operational practices. The connection with the Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3) enables real-time monitoring and timely decision-making across Dubai’s integrated transport network, ensuring swift escalation whenever required. This transformation represents a key milestone in advancing the future of smart urban mobility in Dubai.”
Al Mutawa concluded: “The integration process included joint staff training and unified communication procedures carried out in coordination with partners, ensuring Dubai Metro’s continued excellence as the backbone of the city’s public transport network. This initiative further reinforces Dubai’s global standing as a leading model for smart and sustainable mobility.”
