Completion of Phase One of Marine Transport Waiting Area Upgrade in Dubai Marina

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed Phase One of the Marine Transport Stations Waiting Area Upgrade Project in Dubai Marina. It covered five stations: Marina Promenade, Marina Terrace, Marina Walk, Marina Mall, and Marina Mall 1. The newly upgraded waiting areas are now fully air-conditioned and equipped with comprehensive facilities and services. Their distinctive and innovative designs highlight Dubai’s cultural and heritage identity, drawing architectural inspiration from the traditional wooden abras that reflect the emirate’s rich maritime legacy.
The project aims to enhance customer service by providing a comfortable and modern environment that enriches the marine transport experience. It also supports RTA’s strategy to promote customer happiness through innovative services that foster sustainability, convenience, and a higher quality of life for all.
These stations are designed to enhance connectivity between key facilities and landmarks within Dubai Marina. They offer direct links to major commercial hubs such as Marina Mall, nearby residential communities, and adjacent metro and tram stations. Undertaking the project reflects RTA’s commitment to integrating public transport modes with community infrastructure, facilitating smoother movement for residents and visitors, reducing dependence on private vehicles, and ensuring seamless multimodal connectivity across the network.
Phase One of the project was completed at stations selected based on customer satisfaction survey results. These stations have been equipped with a range of modern amenities designed to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Features include free Wi-Fi throughout the waiting period, an audio announcement system that ensures clear and effective communication of information to all users, and real-time display screens providing live updates on marine transport schedules, all aimed at fully meeting customer needs.
Khalaf Balghazooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said: “This step reflects RTA’s commitment to implementing all necessary measures to uphold the highest standards of safety and security for marine transport users. The upgraded stations have been equipped with advanced security systems, including surveillance cameras and fire alarm devices.”
“As part of RTA’s dedication to serving all segments of society, the waiting areas have been designed in line with the Dubai Universal Design Code for an Accessible Environment for People of Determination. This ensures accessibility and a supportive environment through inclusive features such as ramps, smooth pathways, and height-adjusted amenities tailored to their needs,” He added.
Al Zarooni commented: “The next phase of the project will include the development of five additional stations, which will be delivered in line with the high standards established during the first phase. These stations were selected based on growing demand and the strategic significance of their locations.”
He concluded: “This plan forms part of RTA’s master plan to develop Dubai’s marine transport infrastructure and raise the standard of services delivered. It aligns with the vision of the Government of Dubai to offer world-class services to citizens, residents, and visitors while positioning the emirate’s status as a leading global tourism destination.”
