Al Tayer and Al Marri Honour Winners of the Delivery Sector Excellence Award
(Honourees included companies, partners and 200 riders)
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority; and His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, honoured companies operating in the delivery sector and delivery bike riders who won the second edition of the Delivery Sector Excellence Award. The Award, the first of its kind in the region to recognise delivery riders, was launched following an analytical study of drivers’ behaviour during delivery services.
It aims to raise quality and excellence standards in service delivery, while encouraging delivery companies and bike riders to adhere to traffic laws and regulations and occupational safety requirements.
The list of honourees at the ceremony, held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, covered the Award’s categories, including companies, riders, partners, and the Best Strategic Partner.
ELITE Zone Delivery Services secured first place in the Best Delivery Company category, followed by ZONE Delivery Services in second place and ZAJEL Logistics Services in third. In the Best Delivery Company via Platforms and Smart Applications category, DB L.L.C – Delivery Hero (Talabat) claimed first place, with CAREEM Delivery Services finishing second and Motoboy Delivery Services taking third place.
The ceremony also honoured the best 200 professional riders who have served the sector, following the doubling of the number of awardees in the first edition of the Award. The honourees included 50 riders in the Gold category, 60 in the Silver category, and 90 in the Bronze category, with the value of the rewards increased in line with the level of excellence achieved.
Majid Al Futtaim Group won the Best Partner Award, a category introduced in this edition to recognise a partner supporting the delivery sector. The Award was granted in recognition of the Group’s contribution to achieving RTA’s strategic objectives by enhancing quality of life and demonstrating leadership in supporting delivery riders. This included contributing to the provision of water dispensers at several rider rest areas operated by RTA and maintaining them on a regular basis to ensure consistent quality.
Delivering Excellence
Commenting on the event, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer said: “The Delivery Sector Excellence Award represents one of the regulatory tools adopted by RTA to embed safety, quality, and sustainability standards across fast-growing operational sectors. The delivery sector has become a core pillar of Dubai’s commercial and logistics transport ecosystem, requiring advanced governance that strikes a balance between service efficiency, protects lives, and improves quality of life.”
“RTA, together with its strategic partners—most notably Dubai Police—works to develop a regulated and safe operational environment for the sector. This is achieved through flexible legislation, clear professional standards, and incentive programmes that promote compliance and reward excellence, in line with the rapid growth of the urban economy and in a manner that strengthens public confidence in delivery services.”
His Excellency praised the level of commitment demonstrated by the honoured companies and riders, stating: “Investing in occupational safety, empowering riders, and enhancing their operational efficiency constitutes a direct investment in the sustainability of the sector. It also reinforces Dubai’s competitiveness and consolidates its position as a global leader in the regulation and management of smart and integrated transport systems.”
Traffic Safety
His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said: “Traffic safety represents one of Dubai Police’s strategic pillars and remains at the forefront of policing priorities. This approach aligns with Dubai Road Safety Strategy, which aims to reduce traffic incidents, injuries, and fatalities, and to achieve the highest levels of safety across the emirate’s road network.”
His Excellency noted: “The delivery sector, given its rapid growth and wide reach, calls for the development of operating models that enhance compliance, oversight, and awareness. Recognising outstanding performers in the sector represents a practical demonstration of Dubai Police’s approach to encouraging responsible traffic behaviour and supporting institutional partnerships to establish a safe and sustainable transport environment.”
Lieutenant General Al Marri added: “Our efforts continue in close coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority to activate high-impact initiatives, deploy smart systems, and implement targeted awareness and training campaigns for delivery bike riders. These efforts aim to ensure their safety and the safety of all road users, while reinforcing ongoing efforts to achieve the objectives of the Road Safety Strategy.”
20% Increase in Participation
The current edition of the Award recorded a 20% increase in applications number compared to the first edition. A clear and transparent evaluation mechanism was established to ensure fair assessment of companies and riders, conducted by specialists from RTA in collaboration with Dubai Police.
Recognition of Work Teams
The ceremony, attended by several officials and owners of delivery companies, featured a video presentation highlighting the launch of the Award, its objectives and significance, as well as the judging committees. The event also included the recognition of committee members and subcommittee teams, followed by a group photo of the honourees.
Selection of Winners
The Award adopted precise criteria for selecting winners, most notably compliance with safety, quality, health, and environmental standards, adherence to RTA’s requirements, the application of global best practices, the use of modern technologies, and continuous training and qualification, in addition to contributing to customer satisfaction. Criteria for selecting the Best Rider included a clean record free of complaints, violations, and accidents, as well as performance evaluation.
