Al Tayer: Mohammed bin Rashid a Leader and an Inspirational Role Model in Building Generations and Future Leaders
(Statement by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer on the 20th Anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Assuming Office in Dubai)
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, marking the 20th anniversary of His Highness assuming office in the Emirate of Dubai. He stated that the exceptional leadership of His Highness has transformed Dubai into a global model of balanced and innovative development, combining ambitious vision, rapid delivery, and the ability to turn challenges into sustainable development opportunities.
Al Tayer said: “His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum represents an inspirational role model for all of us in building generations and future leaders. Over the past two decades, His Highness has led a comprehensive development vision that has reshaped the concept of holistic development, transforming Dubai into a smart global city and a leading economic and logistics hub capable of competing with the world’s major cities.
“Guided by this vision, Dubai today ranks among the world’s top three cities in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and is recognised as one of the safest cities globally, offering one of the highest standards of quality of life. People have always been at the heart of Dubai’s development journey, with His Highness placing strong emphasis on quality of life, strengthening social cohesion, and creating an integrated urban environment that prioritises human happiness and wellbeing. This approach has been reflected in Dubai’s ranking as one of the happiest cities worldwide and among the best cities globally to live and work, according to international indicators.
“The infrastructure sector, encompassing the road network and transport systems, represents one of the fundamental pillars of His Highness’s vision. This is clearly reflected in the scale of investment in this vital sector, which has exceeded AED 175 billion to date. Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, with a combined length exceeding 100 km, stand as a testament to His Highness’s vision of public transport as a cornerstone of urban sustainability.
“Equally, Dubai’s road network has expanded significantly, extending beyond 25,000 lane-km and supported by an advanced system of bridges and tunnels capable of accommodating more than 3.5 million vehicles daily. Together, these developments have enhanced mobility flow, improved traffic efficiency, and strengthened road safety. As a result, Dubai has ranked among global leaders in road efficiency and infrastructure quality, achieving leading international positions in the Road Quality Index and ranking among the world’s top 10 smart cities, driven by the adoption of digital solutions, the application of artificial intelligence, and the deployment of intelligent traffic management systems.”
He concluded by saying: “I pray to God Almighty to preserve His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, grant him continued health and wellbeing, and enable the continuation of this journey of giving and nation-building.”
