AED98 Million in Revenues From the 119th Open Auction for Number Plates

The 119th open auction for exclusive vehicle number plates organised by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday, 27 September 2025, generated total revenues of AED97.95 million.
The super plate (BB 88) secured the highest bid at AED14 million, followed by plate (Y 31) at AED6.27 million, plate (M 78) at AED6 million, and plate (BB 777), which also sold for AED6 million.
Held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel, the auction featured 90 premium number plates with two, three, four, and five digits across the codes AA, BB, K, L, M, N, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. Among the highlights were the super plates (BB 88) and (BB 777).
The sale of plates is subject to a 5% VAT. To participate, bidders are required to hold a traffic file in Dubai and provide a security cheque of AED25,000 payable to RTA, along with a non-refundable entry fee of AED120. Payments can also be made by credit card via RTA’s website.
These results reaffirm the success of RTA’s strategy in organising both open and online auctions for distinctive number plates, guided by the principles of neutrality, transparency, and equal opportunities. Many participants are drawn to these plates for their symbolic significance and personal value.
Registration for the auction was available through RTA’s website, and at Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha.
