The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is today taking part in supporting the initiative of ‘A Day without Service Centers’ endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative aims to encourage customers to migrate to smart channels in processing their transactions and availing government services as part of the overall strategic objective of ranking Dubai as the smartest city in the world.

Ahmed Mahboub, Executive Director of Customer Service at RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector was delighted with RTA’s participation in this creative initiative. “The initiative epitomises the shrewd vision of our government, enhances the smart transition in government departments, and engages clients in realising that vision. The RTA would start the implementation of this initiative in seven customer happiness centres namely: Umm Al Romool, Al Barsha, Deira, Al Awir, Al Tawar, Al Manara and Al Kafaf,” he explained.

“Customers in these centres would be directed to process their transactions through alternative channels such as apps on smartphones, RTA’s website, and the new generation of smart service kiosks. The smart services covered in (A Day without Service Centers) initiative are: renewal of vehicle registration, renewal of driver’s licensing, parking cards, and Salik top-ups.

“Teams of the concerned staffs of those centres have been trained on directing customers to use alternative channels in processing their services in support of this initiative. The move would support the vision and policy of our government to divert 80% of customers to smart and e-channels in availing their services by 2018,” added Mahboub.
