Dubai Metro Blue Line Project
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the Dubai Metro Blue Line project, a new 30 km metro route that will strategically link key areas in the emirate through 14 stations, serving the anticipated growth of around one million residents. It will include three key interchange points like the Creek Station on the Green Line, Centrepoint Station on the Red Line, and Dubai International City Station 1 as well as the iconic station at Dubai Creek Harbour. The project is scheduled for completion in 2029, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Metro.
The Blue Line extends in two directions. The first one originates from the Creek interchange station at the Green Line in Al Jaddaf, passing through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Ras Al Khor, and from there to International City (1) that includes the interchange station. It continues towards International City (2)&(3), then to Dubai Silicon Oasis reaching Academic City. The second direction of the Blue Line extends from centrepoint interchange station at the Red Line in Al Rashidiya, passing through Mirdif and Al Warqa reaching International City (1) interchange station. It will also offer a direct connection between Dubai International Airport and nine key areas along the line namely Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Festival City.
Furthermore, the Blue Line sets a precedent as the first transport project of its kind to adhere to green building regulations and specifications, achieving platinum category status.
