Manage nol Card

This service enables you to apply for a Personal nol card or register your Silver or Gold nol card. You can replace or renew your card, top up the balance, and add or renew a Travel Pass. You can also purchase a Red Ticket and an Anonymous nol card.

Individuals aged 5 years and above are eligible for this service, based on the card category requirements.
Required documents

Documents must be uploaded manually if information isn't retrieved electronically from the UAE Pass, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), or Community Development Authority (CDA).

Adults (regular card)

  1. Personal photograph with a white background.

People of Determination (Resident)

  2. People of Determination card issued by the Ministry of Community Development or a Sanad Card issued by the Community Development Authority.

People of Determination (Tourist)

  1. Copy of the Passport

  3. Recent official document issued by the competent authorities in the applicant's country, stating that the person requesting the permit is a Person of Determination or requires special assistance.

Note: All submitted documents should be in Arabic or English, otherwise the customer is requested to submit a legalised translation to process the application.

Students (From 5 to 23 years old)

  1. Personal photograph with a white background
  2. Recent official letter from a UAE-based school, college, or university confirming that the applicant is enrolled in the current academic year.

Senior Citizens and residents (60 years old and above)

Process

Apply for Personal nol card

Through Website

  1. The customer logs in using his UAE Pass or RTA Account. If he uses his UAE Pass, he authorises RTA website to access his full information (full name, phone number, email address, and date of birth).
  2. The customer clicks Manage nol Card in the dashboard.
  3. The customer goes to Apply for a Personal nol Card page.
  4. The customer reviews the personal details from his UAE Pass (primary mobile number, email address, first and last name, date of birth).
  5. The customer selects Apply for Self or on Behalf (available only for Student, Senior Citizens and Residents, People of Determination, and the applicant must be the official family guardian) on the card details page. He selects Category and Travel Class, and the card design, then clicks Next.
  6. If the customer selects On Behalf, he enters the Emirates ID number of the person for whom he's applying and selects Category and Travel Class.
  7. If the customer is a student, he can apply for an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and selects the educational institution from the drop-down menu.
  8. Supporting documents (such as a letter from the educational institution or a Sanad card) are automatically retrieved from KHDA and CDA. Otherwise, the documents are uploaded manually.
  9. The customer enters the delivery details (emirate, area, street, home/apartment number).
  10. The customer reviews and confirms the application.
  11. If the application is approved, the customer pays the fees.
  12. If the documents are uploaded manually, the application is reviewed within 2 working days and the customer receives an SMS and email with a link to pay on RTA website once verified.
  13. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS and email.
  14. The customer receives an SMS and a WhatsApp message with the delivery details within 2 working days after completing payment for automatically approved applications, and within 4 working days after completing payment for applications requiring verification.

Through nol Pay App

New Personal nol Card

  1. The customer logs in to his account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer selects Apply for a Personal nol Card.
  3. The customer authorises nol Pay to access his full information (name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through his UAE Pass.
  4. The customer selects Myself.
  5. The customer enters the following information:
    • Card type
    • Travel pass
    • Customer segment
    • Card design
    • Delivery address.
  6. The customer confirms all the details and submits the application.
  7. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS and email.
  8. The customer receives updates through SMS on his application and card status throughout the process.
  9. The application is automatically approved for the following categories if the documents are retrieved from KHDA: Adult, Students, People of Determination, Senior Emiratis and Residents.
  10. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  11. If the customer selects the physical card, he receives it within 2 working days of successful payment. If the customer selects the digital card, he can download it within 2 working days of the successful payment.

To Apply for a New Personal Card on Behalf of Someone Else

  1. The customer logs in to his account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer selects Apply for a Personal nol Card.
  3. The customer authorises nol Pay to access his full information (name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through his UAE Pass.
  4. The customer selects Someone Else.
  5. The customer enters the other person's Emirates ID number to verify guardianship.
  6. The customer enters the following information:
    • Card type
    • Travel pass
    • Customer segment
    • Card design
    • Delivery address.
  7. The customer confirms all the details and submits the application.
  8. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS and email.
  9. The customer receives updates through SMS on his application and card status throughout the process.
  10. The application is automatically approved for the following categories if the documents are retrieved from KHDA: Adult, Students, People of Determination, Senior Emiratis and Residents.
  11. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  12. If the customer selects the physical card, he receives it within 2 working days of successful payment. If the customer selects the digital card, he can download it within 2 working days of the successful payment.

Register an Existing Silver/Gold Card

Through Website

  1. The customer logs in using his UAE Pass or RTA Account.
  2. The customer authorises RTA website to access his full information (full name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through UAE Pass.
  3. The customer clicks Manage nol Card on the dashboard and then Register Existing Silver/Gold nol Card.
  4. The customer reviews the personal details from his UAE Pass (primary mobile number, email address, first and last name, date of birth).
  5. The customer enters his nol tag ID number and confirms it.
  6. The customer reviews the details.
  7. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  8. The customer receives confirmation through SMS.
  9. The customer receives an SMS with the PIN once the registration is approved.
  10. After receiving the registration SMS, the customer must wait 45 minutes to 4 hours, then activate the card by using it in the nol Pay app, S’hail app (NFC), or at the Metro gates (check-in and check-out) to change the status from anonymous to registered.

Through nol Pay App

  1. The customer logs in to his account using his UAE pass.
  2. The customer selects Register your Existing Silver/Gold Card.
  3. The customer authorises nol Pay to access his full information (name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through his UAE pass.
  4. The customer taps the existing Silver/Gold Card on the back of the phone with NFC feature.
  5. The customer confirms all personal information (nol tag ID, phone number, full name and email address).
  6. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card.
  7. The customer submits the application.
  8. The anonymous card is successfully registered.

Renew/replace a Personal nol card

Through Website

  1. The customer logs in using his UAE Pass or RTA Account. If he uses his UAE Pass, he authorises RTA website to access his full information (full name, phone number, email address, and date of birth).
  2. The customer clicks Manage nol Card in the dashboard.
  3. The customer goes to Apply for Renewing/Replacing personal nol card page.
  4. The customer reviews the personal details from his UAE Pass (primary mobile number, email address, first and last name, date of birth).
  5. The customer selects Apply for Self or on Behalf.
  6. The customer selects Category and Travel Class, and the card design, then clicks Next.
  7. If the customer is a student, he can apply for an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and selects the educational institution from the drop-down menu.

Renew/Replace a Personal nol card on Behalf of Someone Else

  1. The guardian logs in using his UAE Pass or RTA Account.
  2. The guardian authorises RTA website to access his full information through the UAE Pass.
  3. The guardian clicks goes to Apply for Renewing/Replacing personal nol card page.
  4. The guardian selects On Behalf to apply for a dependent or family member.
  5. The guardian selects the nol tag ID of the dependent or enters the number manually.
  6. The guardian selects the card category, uploads the valid required documents, and provides proof of kinship or guardianship.
  7. The guardian selects the reason for the card renewal or replacement and enters the PIN code if applicable.
  8. The guardian reviews the dependent’s personal details, uploads a recent personal photo, and provides or confirms the delivery address.
  9. The guardian reviews all details along with the total amount payable, agrees to the Terms and Conditions, and clicks Confirm and Pay.
  10. The guardian receives an SMS and email confirming successful submission, including a reference number and a link to track the application status.
  11. Once the card is verified and approved, both the guardian and the dependent receive SMS and email notifications with a tracking number for delivery.

Renew Personal nol Card

Through nol Pay App

Students Card (ISIC)

  1. The customer logs in to his account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer select Renew a Personal nol Card.
  3. The customer authorises nol Pay to access his full information (name, phone number, email address, and date of birth) through his UAE Pass.
  4. The customer places the nol card on the NFC area of the mobile phone or selects a card linked to his RTA account.
  5. The customer reviews his personal information.
  6. The travel class and category of the personal card remain the same.
  7. The customer clicks nol ISIC Card.
  8. The customer selects the educational institution.
  9. The customer submits the application.
  10. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS and email.
  11. The customer receives updates through SMS on his application and card status throughout the process.
  12. The application is automatically approved for the following categories if the documents are retrieved from KHDA: Adult, Students, People of Determination, Senior Emiratis and Residents.
  13. The customer pays the fees by credit card, debit card, or nol card.

  4. The customer places the nol card on the NFC area of the mobile phone or selects a card linked to his RTA account (when applying on behalf of another person, the personal card will be automatically linked to the name of the applicant).
  5. The travel class and category of the personal card remain the same.
  6. The customer updates his delivery address and can choose a new card design.

  8. The customer receives the application reference number through SMS and email.
  9. The customer receives updates through SMS on his application and card status throughout the process.

Top Up nol Card

Through Website

  1. The customer logs in using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer clicks Manage nol Card.
  3. The customer selects Top Up nol Card.
  4. The customer enters or selects the nol tag ID and clicks Next.
  5. The customer enters or selects the top-up amount.
  6. The customer settles the fees by credit card.
  7. The customer waits 45 minutes to 4 hours.
  8. The customer scans or taps the card using the nol Pay app or Shail app, or uses it at any metro gate or solar top-up machine to activate the top-up balance.

Through nol Pay App (For Physical Cards)

  1. The customer logs in to his nol Pay account using his RTA account or UAE Pass.
  2. The customer selects Top Up.
  3. The customer places the nol card on the NFC area of the mobile phone or selects a card linked to his RTA account.
  4. The customer selects the top-up amount.
  5. The customer completes the payment using a credit or debit card.
  6. The customer places the card on the NFC reader at the back of the phone again to load the balance.
  7. The balance is topped up instantly.

Through nol Pay App (For Virtual Cards)

  1. The customer logs in to his nol Pay account using his RTA account or UAE Pass.
  2. The customer selects Top Up on the card details page.
  3. The customer selects the top-up amount.
  4. The customer completes the payment using a credit or debit card.
  5. The balance is topped up instantly.

Through S'hail and RTA Dubai

  1. The customer selects Top up nol Card service on the mobile application.
  2. The customer scans the nol card using NFC or enters the tag ID of his nol card (for guest users), or selects the tag ID from the drop-down menu (for logged-in users).
  3. The customer enters his valid email address and a mobile number (required on DSG payment page).
  4. The customer settles the top-up amount by credit card, debit card, or Apple Pay.
  5. The pending balance is activated:
    • If NFC is used, the balance is activated instantly, once the second tap is performed after payment.
    • If the tag ID is used, the customer must wait 45 minutes to 4 hours, then activate the balance through:
      • The same app
      • nol Pay app
      • Metro gates
      • Parking meters
      • Solar top-up machines.

Through Ticket Vending Machines

  1. The customer places the card on the card reader.
  2. The customer selects the top up option.
  3. The customer enters the top-up amount.
  4. The customer completes the payment.
  5. The customer keeps the card on the card reader for 6 seconds.
  6. The balance is topped up instantly.

Through Ticket Office Machines and Micropayment Locations

  1. The customer presents the card to the station agent.
  2. The customer informs the agent about the top-up amount.
  3. The customer completes the payment.
  4. The balance is topped up instantly.

Through Solar Top-Up Machines

  1. The customer places the card on the card reader.
  2. The customer selects the top-up service.
  3. The customer enters the top-up amount.
  4. The customer completes the payment in cash.

Through Mahboub Chatbot

  1. The customer types top up nol card in the chat.
  2. The customer clicks/types Apply Now to proceed.
  3. The customer enters the nol Tag ID.
  4. The customer selects the amount (minimum 5 AED and maximum 150 AED) then clicks select.
  5. The customer clicks pay using DubaiPay.
  6. The customer completes the payment.
  7. The customer activates the pending top-up balance by using the card in nol Pay App, metro gates, parking machines, or smart top-up bus solar machines.

Purchase a new Travel Pass

Through nol Pay App

  1. The customer logs in to his nol Pay account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer clicks on Purchase Travel Pass
  3. The customer places the nol card on the NFC area of the mobile phone or selects a card linked to his RTA account.
  4. The customer selects the required Travel Pass.
  5. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card or nol card balance.
  6. The customer places and holds the card again on the NFC area after the payment is successfully completed.
  7. The Travel Pass is activated immediately.

Through Ticket Office Machines

  1. The customer heads to any Ticket Office at the Metro station.
  2. The customer provides the nol card to the station agent and requests to upload the required Travel Pass.
  3. The customer settles the Travel Pass value.
  4. The station agent uploads and activates the requested Travel Pass.
  5. The Travel Pass is activated immediately.

Through Ticket Vending Machines

  1. The customer heads to any Ticket Vending Machine.
  2. The customer places the nol card on the nol card reader.
  3. The customer selects the required Travel Pass.
  4. The customer pays the Travel Pass value.
  5. The Travel Pass is activated immediately from the Ticket Vending Machine.

Renew Travel Pass

Through Website

  1. The customer accesses RTA Website.
  2. The customer selects Services.
  3. The customer selects Renew Travel Pass from the nol Services tab.
  4. The customer enters the nol tag ID.
  5. The customer settles the fees by credit card.
  6. The Travel Pass is renewed.
  7. The customer activates the product on Metro gates (check-in and check-out).

Through nol Pay App

  1. The customer logs in to his nol Pay account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer clicks on Renew Travel Pass
  3. The user chooses a card with a travel pass that is about to expire, or places the nol card on the NFC area of the mobile phone.
  4. The customer selects the required Travel Pass.
  5. The customer pays the fees by credit or debit card or nol card balance.
  6. The customer places and holds the card again on the NFC area after the payment is successfully completed.
  7. The Travel Pass is activated immediately

Through Ticket Vending Machines (applicable for 7 day Travel Pass only)

  1. The customer places the card on the TVM reader.
  2. The customer selects the existing product.
  3. The customer selects the effective starting date.
  4. The customer settles the fees.
  5. The customer waits for 10 seconds for the product to be uploaded on the card.
  6. The Travel Pass is renewed and activated.

Through Ticket Office Machines

  1. The customer presents the nol card to the station agent.
  2. The customer confirms the product zones and validity to the station agent.
  3. The customer completes the payment.
  4. The Travel Pass is renewed and activated.

Through Mahboub Chatbot (customers with no RTA account)

  1. The customer types Renew Travel Pass with nol tag ID ex: renew travel pass 0123456789.
  2. The Travel Pass details are displayed on the screen.
  3. The customer agrees to the terms and conditions.
  4. The customer completes the payment.
  5. The customer activates the Travel Pass by using the card on Metro gates (check in and check out).

Through Mahboub Chatbot (customers with RTA account)

  1. The customer types Renew Travel Pass.
  2. The customer enters his username.
  3. The customer selects the nol card he wants to renew the Travel Pass on from the list of cards registered under his account, or by entering the tag ID manually.
  4. The Travel Pass details are displayed on the screen.
  5. The customer agrees to the terms and conditions.
  6. The customer completes the payment.
  7. The customer activates the Travel Pass product by using the card on Metro gates (check in and check out).

Family Cards Management

Through nol Pay App

  1. The customer logs in to his account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer selects Family Cards Management.
  3. The Customer selects Link Family Cards.
  4. The customer enters the nol tag ID or scans the card.
  5. The customer selects Confirm Card Linking.

Purchase an Anonymous nol Card

Through nol Pay App

  1. The customer logs in to his account using his UAE Pass.
  2. The customer selects Purchase a Digital Card.
  3. The customer pays the fees directly by credit or debit card, or later through authorised sales agent

Through Ticket Office Machines

Purchase an anonymous nol card:

  1. The customer heads to any Ticket Office Machine.
  2. The customer requests the card type (Silver or Gold) from the station agent.
  3. The customer settles the fees.
  4. The customer receives the card.

Purchase nol Red Ticket:

  1. The customer heads to any Ticket Office Machine.
  2. The customer requests a Red Ticket specifying the class type, zones, number of trips or the 1 day travel pass product.
  3. The customer settles the fees.
  4. The customer receives the Red Ticket.

Through Ticket Vending Machines

Purchase nol Red Ticket:

  1. The customer heads to the Ticket Vending Machine.
  2. The customer selects nol Red Ticket.
  3. The customer selects the class type, zones, number of trips or the 1 day travel pass product.
  4. The customer settles the fees.
  5. The customer receives the Red Ticket.

Purchase an anonymous nol card:

Apply for Personal nol Card

Eligibility and age requirements:

  • The customer must use his own UAE Pass to apply for this service and not that of his parent or guardian.
  • Students must be between 5 and 23 years old and enrolled in a school, college, or university within the UAE.
  • Senior Emiratis and senior residents must be 60 years or older.
  • The concession for the Students, Senior Emiratis and Residents, and People of Determination must be renewed annually, provided the customer remains eligible and wishes to continue benefiting from the concession.
  • Children under the age of 5 don't need a nol card and can use Dubai Metro, Tram, and Bus for free.
  • The nol card is intended for use only by its owner. Any misuse, such as allowing another person to use the card or using an expired or invalid card, is subject to penalties in accordance with RTA regulations.

Application requirements:

  • The customer can’t submit a new application until the pending application has been successfully processed and the card printed, or the application rejected.
  • If the application is submitted on behalf of another person, the applicant must be the family guardian.
  • If the applicant is applying for himself, he must log in using his own UAE Pass.
  • The application will be verified within 2 working days of submission when documents are uploaded manually.
  • The card application will be automatically approved if all documents are retrieved electronically from the relevant Dubai authorities: Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) for students, Community Development Authority for People of Determination, and the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs for customer residency details.
  • The personal photo submitted must be in png or jpeg format and mustn’t exceed 5KB.
  • Personal nol card application will be rejected if it doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria, such as submitting a valid student letter for the current academic year or a valid POD letter, or if the payment isn’t received within 30 days from the application date.

Card features and usage:

  • The customer can apply for a personal nol card (blue card), which offers the same features as the Silver and Gold cards, with different categories and concessions: Adults (Regular), Senior Emiratis, People of Determination, and Students.
  • The printed name on the Personal nol card matches the customer’s first and last name as shown on the UAE Pass.
  • The customer can have up to 5 Personal or Registered nol cards. However, for concession cards (like People of Determination, Students, Senior Emiratis and Residents), the customer can have only one active concession card at a time.
  • Students, Adults, and Senior Emiratis have the option to select from different nol card designs.
  • The customer can view one month of transaction history, add or remove his nol card from his RTA account, and reset or change the PIN code.
  • The customer can apply for a virtual nol card through nol Pay, only on compatible Samsung and Huawei phones and through the wallet of Huawei watch 3 and 3 Pro.
  • Gold Class Personal nol cards are available for the Adults (regular) category only.
  • Silver Class cards are only available for concession categories (Students, Senior Emiratis/Residents, and People of Determination).
  • The concession for Students and Senior Emiratis is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance., otherwise, the card can still be used for transport and non-transport services and charged according to the standard travel fees. While the concession for People of Determination remains valid until the expiry date of the Sanad card. The Personal nol card itself remains valid for 5 years from the date of issuance.
  • The card balance will remain usable for RTA public transport and retail payments after the card expires in 2 years; however, top-ups, card registration, or adding new products won’t be allowed.
  • The concession cards discount is valid only on the Metro, Tram, and Bus (excluding intercity and seasonal buses).
  • The customer must make sure that the digital nol card is backed up once it’s been converted.
  • The customer receives a PIN code once the registration is approved. The PIN is required when requesting a refund or adding a card to the customer portfolio.
  • The paid amount for card issuance includes the issuance fees and a preloaded balance of 19 AED.
  • The intercity buses service is available for free only for People of Determination, holders of personal nol cards.
  • If the personal nol card becomes faulty during a trip, the customer may complete the journey without incurring any additional fare.
  • Types and benefits of Personal nol cards:
    • Regular: No discount on using public transport. All standard features are included (secure balance, up to 5,000 AED top-up, and loading travel passes).
    • Students: 50% fare discount. The student must have active records in KHDA or submit a valid letter from school/university.
    • Senior Emiratis and Residents: 50% discount, available for those aged 60 and above with valid Emirates ID.
    • People of Determination: 100% fare discount. The customer must have an active SANAD card issued by CDA.

Card delivery:

  • Card delivery is free of charge.
  • The card will be delivered within 4 working days from the date of successful payment or from the approval date for People of Determination (POD) cards. The customer must respond promptly to the delivery representative message to confirm delivery time and location.
  • For automatically approved applications, nol cards are delivered in 2 working days.
  • For other applications with documents uploaded manually, nol cards will be delivered within 4 working days from the date of successful payment, or from the approval date for People of Determination (POD) cards.
  • Returned or uncollected cards will be blocked without refund if not claimed within 30 days.
  • The customer can track the status of his Personal nol card application and delivery through the Track Delivery service.
  • The customer must report to RTA within 3 days from the nol card delivery date in case of a technical or physical defect in the delivered card.
  • Upon delivery, the courier will request the customer’s signature and a valid Emirates ID as the primary verification document. If an Emirates ID is unavailable, a UAE driving licence or passport can be provided.
  • Emirates Post (EMX) contacts the customer on the mobile number registered during the nol card application to arrange delivery. If the customer can’t be reached after 3 call attempts, the nol card will be returned and marked as “Return” in the system.

Registered card activation (registered):

  • Silver or Gold Anonymous cards can be registered without any specific category or concession.
  • The nol card registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Registered nol cards include all standard features such as a secure balance, up to AED 5,000 top-up, and the ability to load one Travel Pass (30, 90, or 365 days) at a time. These cards don’t offer travel fees discounts and must include a photo.

Unaccompanied minor policy:

  • Below 8 years old: not recommended to use public transport (metro, tram, buses, and marine transportation) unless accompanied by adults.
  • Between 8 and 11 years old: the permit must be issued by one of the parents to allow the child to travel alone (with the exception of intercity buses).
  • 12 years old and above: allowed to use public transport without being accompanied by an adult.


Renew Personal nol Cards

  • In some cases, the customer must upload supporting documents to verify the concession eligibility.
  • This service is only available for personal nol cards, including Regular (non-concession), Students, Senior Emiratis and Residents, and People of Determination.
  • The documents submitted must be in pdf format and mustn’t exceed 2MB.
  • The concession for the Students, Senior Emiratis and Residents, and People of Determination must be renewed annually, provided that the customer remains eligible and wishes to continue benefiting from the concession.
  • Regular Personal nol cards must be renewed every 5 years.
  • The customer will receive expiry notifications via SMS and email 30 days and 15 days before the card or concession expires.
  • Upon renewal, the customer can modify his delivery details and select a different nol card design if eligible.
  • The renewed or replacement card retains all features of the original personal nol card, including any remaining balance and the concession validity period (if applicable).

Replace nol Cards

  • The remaining balance is transferred to the new Personal nol card after 4 working days of the application approval.
  • When a card is lost or damaged, the replacement card will have the same concession expiry date as the original. The card itself remains valid for 5 years.
  • If the personal nol card becomes faulty within 30 days from its purchase or issuance, the cardholder must hand it over and provide his details to the Metro station staff, and receive a retention card (optional). He must submit a replacement request through RTA website or smart apps.
  • If the personal nol card becomes faulty after 30 days, the cardholder bears the replacement fees.
  • When replacing the concession cards, the customer’s eligibility will be verified online through the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs using his residency details.
  • The renewed or replacement card retains all features of the original personal nol card, including any remaining balance and the concession validity period (if applicable).
  • In case of replacement, the concession will be valid for the remainder of the concession date of the original card. The duration of the concession isn’t automatically renewed or extended.
  • When requesting a replacement card, the customer can modify his delivery details.

Lost or stolen cards:

  • In case of a lost or stolen card, the customer must report it immediately to RTA and apply for a refund so the card can be blocked within 48 hours.
  • The customer is responsible for any use of the card within 48 hours of the reporting. RTA isn't liable for the balance used during this period.
  • The customer may request a balance refund through online channels using the PIN code or through Refund nol Cards Balance on RTA website.
  • Blocked cards can't be reactivated.
  • Anonymous Silver/Gold cards that are lost, stolen, faulty, or damaged can't be registered.

Purchase Anonymous nol Card

  • The journey fare is calculated automatically and deducted from the customer’s card balance.
  • The card is valid in all means of public transport and non-transportation services, except for nol Red Ticket that's limited to the Bus, Metro and Tram.
  • Gold card holders can use the first class cabin in the Tram and Metro.
  • The customer can buy and manage virtual nol cards through nol Pay app only, on compatible Samsung phones and Huawei phones only, and through the wallet of Huawei watch 3 and 3 Pro.
  • Physical nol card holders can benefit from some nol services on their physical nol cards through nol Pay application:

Purchase Travel Pass

  • When purchasing the Travel Pass using nol Pay, the customer must tap and hold the card on the NFC area, after the payment is successfully completed.
  • Anonymous nol card holders aren't eligible to purchase a 30,90 and 365 day Travel Pass; they’re only eligible for a 7- day pass.
  • If the nol card expires and an active Travel Pass is loaded on it, the Travel Pass remains valid until its expiry date.
  • Red tickets can only be reloadable with a maximum of 5 daily passes.
  • The Travel Pass can only be used within Dubai.
  • When uploading a pass on nol card or nol red ticket, the customer must specify his intended area of travel because the pass will be limited to the designated area(s).
  • If the customer travels outside the validity zone, regular travel fees apply.
  • The 7-day pass should be renewed 3 days before and after its expiry.
  • If the customer has an active travel pass that is about to expire, he can purchase a new travel pass within the eligible period (3 or 5 days before expiry), but it will only be activated after the existing travel pass expires.
  • Holders of all types of Travel Passes can't refund the fees of the trip taken when RTA public transport means are for free, and this free day will not be added to the validity of their daily pass.
  • The customer can use the Travel Pass only in the Metro, Tram and Buses, except for intercity and seasonal buses.
  • The customer can't use nol card monthly passes for bus route 110 which operates between Al Safa Bus Terminus and Al Quoz Creative Zone. The bus is considered an intercity bus and operates with a flat rate of 2 AED.
  • The customer can’t cancel the Travel Pass for personal or registered nol cards once they’ve been activated and used.

Renew Travel Pass

  • The 7-day Travel Pass loaded on Anonymous nol cards must be renewed 3 days before or after its expiry through the Ticket Vending Machines and Ticket Office Machines in Metro stations, or via nol Pay app and Shail app.
  • To activate the Travel Pass, the customer must use their nol card within the zones covered by the Travel Pass.
  • To activate the Travel Pass, the customer must use his nol card in any metro gate after 45 minutes to 4 hours.
  • Anonymous nol cards owners can only renew their 7-day travel passes on nol Pay, S’hail app, or in metro stations.
  • Travel Passes valid for 30, 90, or 365 days are renewable 5 days before their expiry.
  • The customer can only renew the same product type, for the same period.
  • Personal and Registered nol cards are eligible for 7, 30, 90 and 365-day Travel Pass products.

Refund Travel Pass

  • The customer can refund the Travel Pass balance only for registered and personal nol cards. The refund is calculated on a pro-rata basis, not according to the remaining days of the Travel Pass validity. The card will be blocked during process time.
  • The Travel Pass can neither be cancelled nor refunded once activated and used, unless the customer applies for a nol card refund.
  • The customer can’t refund or cancel the 7-day Travel Pass on Anonymous nol cards once it’s been activated.

Manage nol cards data

  • The customer receives the new PIN via SMS on his registered mobile number.
  • RTA will never ask the customer to disclose his nol card PIN.
  • The customer must link his nol cards to his authorised profile only.
  • The customer must keep the PIN confidential and not share it with anyone.
  • RTA isn’t liable for any transactions or services carried out on the nol card if the customer shares his card PIN with others and links his card under an unauthorised profile.

Answer 1: No, the personal nol card must be used by the card owner only.

Renew or Replace Personal nol Card

  • Question 1: What are the features of nol Silver Card?

Answer 1: nol Silver Card is a smart card with a balance that can be loaded up to 1,000 AED for non-registered users and 5,000 AED after registration in the system. The card can be purchased instantly from any Ticket Office or a number of Ticket Vending Machines for only 25 AED including 19 AED card balance.

  • Question 2: What is a nol Gold Card, and what is the difference between it and other nol Cards?
