His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), commended the role of UAE's leadership in empowering women and mobilising all resources to bolster their contributors to the growth and advancement of the nation. “Women have thrived due to the significant support and encouragement from the UAE leaders, along with the efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, the Mother of the Nation. Her initiatives have been instrumental in strengthening women's presence across various sectors. Emirati women have excelled as ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors, engineers, and entrepreneurs, making remarkable contributions to their country and society,” commented Al Tayer.

“Since its founding, the UAE has attached priority to the social, educational, economic, and professional empowerment of women, providing them with every support, training, and decent living. It has also elevated the status of Emirati women in both regional and international arenas and was keen on achieving gender balance within the nation. This commitment is evidenced by increasing Emirati women's representation in the Federal National Council to 50% beginning with the 2019 electoral cycle, as well as promoting their participation on the boards of federal organisations, businesses, and institutions,” said Al Tayer.

“Guided by the vision and instructions of our leadership, RTA focused on fostering a supportive work environment for women, ensuring their empowerment in the fields of road and public transport. This is demonstrated through the introduction of educational and training initiatives aimed at enhancing women's capabilities to assume leadership and specialised roles in engineering, technical, and administrative capacities.

“These efforts are focused on the development of the infrastructure of road networks and transportation systems, playing a pivotal role in RTA’s progress. Currently, RTA boasts 939 female employees, who represent 25% of its total workforce. Among these, approximately 445 women hold leadership, supervisory, and specialist positions in engineering, technical, and administrative fields, significantly contributing to various projects and initiatives undertaken by RTA,” added Al Tayer.
