Setting End of October as deadline for updating details of taxi plate holders

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has set the end of October 2018 as a deadline for beneficiaries of taxi number plates to update their details at RTA to continue receiving their monthly allowance. This announcement is made in implementation of the Resolution No. (8)/2018 issued last April.


“The Resolution aims to streamline the payment of the monthly allowance or the final compensation to holders of Dubai taxi plates and their heirs. Updating their details will ensure a smooth payment of the prescribed monthly allowance to beneficiaries,” said Ahmed Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Finance, at RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector.


The Resolution No. 8/2018 stipulates that the use of number plates in Dubai shall be restricted to RTA, any other entity designated or contracted by RTA. RTA uses number plates owned by beneficiaries or their heirs in return for a monthly allowance determined by RTA. This arrangement applies in case beneficiaries or their heirs do not waive such number plates during their lifetime against compensation of AED 170,000. However, the right of heirs is limited to compensation rather than the monthly allowance.


"The monthly allowance or the final compensation is a generous initiative by the government to bring happiness to people. It also reflects the leadership keenness to support citizens and care for their social affairs and living conditions. It particularly applies to those with low income such as beneficiaries of number plates and their heirs as part of efforts to provide a decent living for all community segments."


All beneficiaries, as well as their heirs holding taxi number plates operated by RTA’s Dubai Taxi Corporation, are required to update their details by the end of this October.  They are welcomed to RTA’s Head Office, Block A, Second Floor, Taxi Number Plates Office from 08:00 am to 02:00 pm to complete the procedures of compensation and the monthly allowance, thus avoid the ceasing of the monthly allowance.

Approval letter from Awqaf and Minors' Affairs Foundation in case of minors or internees. **
Letter approved by the bank showing bank account details*
