HE Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, delivered a speech on the second day of Dubai International Project Management Forum where he “What we live right now is just the beginning of evolution. There is still a lot to see in the future”.

Per to Alabbar, the key elements of the shared economy are: social media, innovation through AI, big data, shared platforms and personal marketing. In this context, the shared economy is a random development, and all that we need is for the shared economy is high-speed internet, and the mindset of business leaders to penetrate the markets,” he said.

“With the industrial revolution and the high-velocity of change, the practical experience of more than two years has now become irrelevant to any field, especially in technology. Currently innovations, discoveries and transformations never cease. Experience of more than two years is becoming redundant. Youth are the best to deal with technology. Their vision and dealing with technology is different from elders. Therefore all business leaders are invited to cooperate with youth in their endeavours to enhance the efficiency and quality,” added Al Abbar.

The massive technological advancements have left a mark on our life such as health, education, communication, work and shopping among others. It is imperative for humans to benefit from these technologies. Today, the consumer can browse and compare the prices, features and specifications and eventually order the most suitable products.

He also talked about the digital shared idea, especially the impact it has on business development. Today, people can work remotely, and there is no need to be personally present for work.

“We are in an area where we can find minds capable of inventing amazing things. One of the most successful forms is the cooperation between the older, mature and experienced generation with the younger generation,” said Al Abbar on the impact of technology on business.

Al Abbar called on the audience to accept the change and react to it openly, especially in the future fields such as digital printing. He also called to invest in these areas to make changes in various fields, especially in managing large projects, as the best minds can be used to design master plans and manage construction projects.

“We have to be able to update our minds with the same speed and frequency that our computer and mobile phone do, hence, we will be able to match the speedy development of technology,” added Al Abbar.

Al Abbar concluded by calling on all corporates and companies to get rid of meeting rooms. The meetings, as he sees it, are only a waste time, and should be replaced with quick and effective meetings, and the remaining time should be used in working and implementing.
