The participation of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) has been overly fervent from Day One. This year, RTA has lent every support to the event by involving employees at various grades and positions including drivers, inspectors, call centre staffs, cleaners and even kids of RTA’s Nursery. RTA has gone further to engage the entire community out of its belief that sport is not only a practice, rather a lifestyle.

“Employees participation in the DFC covered an array of games such as Football, Cricket, Swimming, Challenge Games, Olympic Circuits, Bowling, Fitness Relay, Yoga, and Zumba,” said Abdul Rahman Al Janahi, Head of RTA Sports Team.

“The external activities included visits to the House of Elderly at Al Barsha and Rashid Center for People of Determination. These events are important to RTA as they contribute to realising one of its strategic goals; People Happiness.

“Events kept on for four weeks and included numerous activities and games such as relay challenge, morning exercises for men & women, body mass measurement, yoga, Zumba, cycling/flexibility challenge in RTA Gym males/females among others. Several workshops were held highlighting the physical and psychological benefits of practising sport,” added Al Janahi.

“RTA is keen to support all community and sports events that contribute to cementing the profile of Dubai as a cosmopolitan city focused on bringing happiness to residents, visitors and tourists descending on the city from all parts of the globe,” concluded the Head of RTA Sports Team.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge (Dubai 30×30) has been kicked off on October 26 and ends on November 24, 2018. It is an initiative rolled out by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council. It urges all community members to practice sport daily for at least 30 minutes for 30 days with the aim of turning Dubai into the most active and happiest city worldwide.
