Al Tayer witnesses signing MOU for the Safety of Drivers

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, and His Excellency Khalil Ibrahim Khoury, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation for Human Resources Affairs, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Roads and Transport Authority and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation to enhance the safety of drivers of the passenger transport sector (public buses, taxis and school transportation) by publishing educational materials .

The signing of the memorandum came on the sidelines of the MENA  Transport Congress & Exhibition , which ran from February 28 to March 1, 2024, and is organized by the Roads and Transport Authority at the Dubai World Trade Center, with wide participation both locally and internationally.

The MOU was signed by Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO, Public Transport Agency, at RTA and by H.E Omar Al-Mazeina, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO, Public Transport Agency said, “Safety is RTA’s top priority and in line with its vision, “The world leader in seamless and sustainable mobility” ; the partnership with MoHRE  will ensure that the  drivers of public transport receive the right awareness material through video content at the Tawjeeh Centres through the Tawjeeh Hub Programme which will entail the importance of the driver’s profession, adherence to traffic and traffic regulations, and legal provisions, introduction of culture of UAE’s society, accident prevention, types of violations and general etiquette. The MOU reflects RTA’s efforts to ensure RTA’s keenness to enhance passenger transport safety on buses, taxis and school buses.”

H.E Omar Al Mazeina, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, of MoHRE said, “The awareness video content will be used through the “Tawjeeh” program, which constitutes an effective platform to educate the workforce, including drivers assigned to transport public transportation passengers and students, noting the keenness of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation to support the awareness efforts made by the Roads and Transport Authority.”
