Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority hails cooperation with RTA in Self-Driving Transport

Muammar Al Katheeri, Executive Vice-president of Engineering and Smart City at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, delivered a keynote address on the second day of Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport (16 October 2019) about the Strategy of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority. The speech covered four aspects: technology hub, desired society, happiest people and the smart city. The speech was delivered to an audience of smart technology experts from the UAE and far afield as well as participants in the congress. 


In his visual presentation, Al Katheeri reviewed the existing cooperation with RTA in self-driving transport including tests carried by RTA to leaders, start-ups as well as local and international universities that took part in the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport. It is noteworthy that tests were carried out at dedicated roads and tracks provided by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority for participants in the challenge over four months this year. 


Al Katheeri narrated various fields of cooperation with RTA such as the autonomous air taxi launched by RTA last year. He revealed that relevant tests were being commissioned at dedicated roads and tracks at the Dubai Silicon Oasis to assess the performance of this mode of mobility including safety. 
He commended RTA’s achievements in public transport and associated infrastructure and praised its valuable initiatives in smart technologies capable of boosting Dubai’s aspirations to be the smartest and happiest city in the world. He paid tribute to the vitality of the strategic partnership between RTA and Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and their joint efforts towards realizing Dubai ambitions.
