Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) whereby the latter has become a co-organizer of the Dubai International Project Management Forum 2018-2020.

The signing of the MoU culminates the huge success of the past editions of the Forum in terms of attendees, global speakers and topics discussed. It also stems from the commitment of the two parties to raise public awareness on the importance of implementing the project management methodology in various sectors, especially the health sector. The MoU also supports the sense of belonging to the project management community in the UAE and cements the professionalism of approved project management practitioners, especially in the health sector.

Director General of the Dubai Health Authority H.E Humaid Al Qatami signed on behalf of the DHA, and Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executives Directors of Roads and Transport Authority H.E Mattar Al Tayer signed on behalf of RTA.

According to the MoU, DHA will develop a new track of Projects Management in the health sector through the Dubai International Project Management Forum. It will compile a case study about the management of health projects for releasing in the forum. A seminar will be held to shed light on project management in the health sector, besides conducting medical tests on interested attendees.

“The Dubai International Project Management Forum is one of the prominent specialist international forums held in Dubai. It offers a great chance to exchange ideas, experience and knowledge of modern project management sciences. It also offers an opportunity to highlight the successful partnership model that brings together various Dubai entities. It displays the remarkable success of Dubai in managing projects and innovating viable ideas,” said Al Qatami.

He added that the signing of the MoU enhances the presence of DHA in the Dubai International Project Management Forum. It offers a platform for exhibiting successful health practices and projects and opens new horizons for the fruitful cooperation and undertaking joint initiatives in the interest of the community. We pay tribute to the efforts of RTA, especially those related to the sustainability of cities and mega infrastructural projects.

“The Project Management is a top priority to the DHA. The organisational structure of DHA has an office dedicated to Project Management in order to keep pace with the modern practices and rapid development of the industry worldwide, which will contribute to realising the objectives,” explained Al Qatami.

Al Tayer was delighted with the signing of the MoU with DHA as a co-organiser of the forum under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

“This partnership contributes to realising the objectives of the Forum through showcasing the development drive of Dubai under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” said Al Tayer.

“Dubai is one of the leading global cities in the field of project management. It adopts top international standards in mega projects such as Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Tram & Metro, airport projects, giant ports and iconic architectural projects.”

“The deliverables of this Forum will enrich future projects of RTA such as projects related to the World Expo 2020. Studies indicate that during its six-month duration, Expo will attract about 25 million visitors, 70% of those from abroad. It is anticipated to create more than 277 thousand jobs.

“Over the last five editions, the Forum has cemented its image as a global platform for releasing the best practices and developing innovative project management solutions. The event features the participation of visionary international experts who can propose creative ideas that contribute to the successful construction of big projects. The successes of the forum are culminated in the launch of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Innovation in Project Management and honouring the winners of the first two editions of the award,” concluded Al Tayer.
