The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is keen to make active participation in all Ramadan-related events, especially those bearing humanitarian and charitable values. Such events and activities culminate on Zayed Humanitarian Day, 19th of Ramadan, which corresponds to the sad demise of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

“RTA has distributed ‘Meer Ramadan’ (rations) to 400 disadvantaged families in Dubai; and for the first time in Sharjah and Ajman, in cooperation with the Union Co-op,” said Ms. Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, RTA.

“In support of Eid Joy initiative, a team of RTA volunteers escorted 50 orphans and children of low-income families, to a shopping centre to buy Eid dresses and cheer them up on this occasion. The event was held in collaboration with the UAE Red Crescent in Dubai, and Rawafid Center for Development & Education,” she noted.

Other events held by RTA included hosting a mass Iftar for 50 drivers of RTA Buses in Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai. The gathering included activities and quizzes for drivers in the presence of Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency, and several directors, managers and employees of the Agency.

The UAE celebrates Zayed Humanitarian Day on 19 Ramadan, corresponding to the passing away of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and has become a turning point in the history of the UAE. Celebrating the day commemorates a host of humanitarian achievements made by the UAE in the form of aid delivered to other countries and peoples.
