The 5th Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) has held a discussion panel entitled (Zayed, Builder of the Nation) marking the designation of 2018 as the Year of Zayed.

H.E Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State, and H.E Mohamed Al-Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, were present. Attendees also included HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and several key officials. Dr.Suleiman Al Hatlan, Founder and CEO of Al Hatlan Media moderated the session. The session focused on the ideology, vision and achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

“Zayed has charted out a balanced foreign policy rendering the UAE a reputed country worldwide. Zayed who learned from practice and history had set a model of a peaceful, conciliatory and open-minded person. He exhibited such values in all disputes, and during the development of the Federation of the UAE or across the Arab world,” said Nusseibeh.

Zayed opted to a peaceful solution when Iran occupied UAE Islands. He had the political credibility as described by the former American National Security Advisor Brzezinski. He used to abide by international rules to maintain the rights and entity of the UAE.

“Zayed was known as a generous person who gave a helping hand to humans. The culture of giving has since been a culture of the UAE people and leadership. He believed that the real wealth of the nation was the people of the UAE. He built the first school for Bedouins and offered assistance to those who send their children to schools,” he added.

“Zayed lived in a century full of crises, especially the WW1 and its political fallouts. Thus the idea of building the nation was unique in the conscience of Zayed. The British colonisation’s only legacy was administrative and military. But Zayed was driven by sound tribal and social traditions and established the state as a beacon for future generations,” said Al Murr.

“Sheikh Zayed played a key role in the constitutional building of the nation and mixed the public and private sectors in a solid economic system. He used to care very much for federal entities such as the FNC. Once he summoned a minister, who walked out of the FNC in anger, to respond to the questions of members. He left an important legacy in the management of mega projects such as the construction of roads and the UAE University,” he added.
