Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has carried out inspection campaigns targeting vehicle abandoned in the surroundings of vehicle registration centres in cooperation with Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and the Department of Economic Development. The step is part of RTA’s keenness to curb uncivilised practices near those centres such as the selling of vehicles, leaving vehicles with no registration plates, etc.

“The launch of this campaign follows the detection of illegal practices in the surroundings of vehicle registration centres such as the selling and buying of vehicles, leaving vehicles with no number plates and the assembly of towing vehicles, which creates uncivilized appearance for the city,” said Jamal Al Sadah, Director of Vehicles Licensing, Licensing Agency, RTA.

Accordingly, the RTA has coordinated with the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and the Department of Economic Development to launch inspection campaigns to tow such vehicles and take legal actions. The campaigns have covered Tasjeel Al Qusais, Quick, Shamil Muhaisina, Wasl Al Jaddaf, Tasjeel Al Barsha, Al Mumayaz Al Barsha, Tamam Al Ghandi, Wasl Nad Al Hamar, and Tasjeel Warsan.

Several procedures have been taken by RTA, Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and the Department of Economic Development in their respective fields such as serving offence tickets, towing abandoned vehicles, and affixing notices among others. The campaigns resulted in the removal of about 121 vehicles.

“In cooperation with partners, the RTA carries an annual plan tackling negative practices in the vicinity of vehicle registration centres to maintain the gorgeous urban landscape of the Emirate,” added Al Sadah.
