RTA’s Public Transport Agency confirmed a drop in the violations relating to fare evasion by bus riders thanks to the ‘Rasid’ and awareness campaigns. Only 5506 cases had been spotted.

“About 5,605 cases of bus fare evasion cases have been detected on Route C1 out of 151,005 riders during a campaign that lasted 21 days,” said Mohammed Walid Nabhan, Director of Transport Activities Monitoring, Public Transport Agency, RTA. “These violators could be spotted thanks to the sophisticated technology used to monitor bus riders in Dubai branded as Rasid. It is a kind of a smart system with multiple components parts of which are fitted to buses and others at the Bus Control Center of the Agency. The system computes the actual number of riders boarding or alighting from buses at each bus stop.

Nabhan called on public bus riders to ensure the payment of the applicable fares through NOL card to avail the services of RTA’s public transport means. He also urged them to support RTA’s efforts aimed at delivering services befitting residents and visitors descending on Dubai from all corners of the globe.
