Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has recently received a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to brief them on the best corporate governance practices. The visit was part of RTA’s strategy for exchanging expertise and knowledge with various local and federal Government entities.

“Officials of the visiting delegation were keen to familiarise with the governance and audit standards adopted by RTA, which nurture an environment conducive to the values of integrity, transparency, justice and accountability. The delegation focused on sharing expertise in the fields of corporate governance, knowledge and best practices of both parties,” said Abdullah Al Jawi, Director RTA’s Internal Audit.

The gathering started with a presentation casting light on the Organisational Chart of RTA as well as the chart of organisational units overseeing and monitoring governance practices.

The presentation highlighted the responsibilities of governance audit including the assessment of internal monitoring of strategic activities to identify the governance audit fields under the annual audit plan. Such responsibilities include offering counselling to organisational units in audit and monitoring-related aspects to verify their compliance with the applicable regulations and policies. The presentation also touched on the policies and principles of corporate governance and internal audit as well as the overall anti-fraud rules.

Several questions and inquiries were raised, which have enriched the gathering with important information and offered a chance to share further views and ideas. At the end of the session, the visiting delegation praised RTA’s internal audit and corporate governance model and stressed its contribution to bolstering the integration and bilateral cooperation of the two parties in this field.
