Al Tayer: Tolerance is deeply rooted in the UAE culture

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, stated that the initiative of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to declare 2019 as the Year of Tolerance underscores the true path of the UAE in fostering the values of tolerance and peace worldwide.


“Under the leadership of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the UAE has become a model of tolerance and multicultural co-existence for more than 200 nationalities, enjoying decent life and respect,” said Al Tayer.


The rulers’ of the UAE ensure justice, respect and equality, and incriminate hatred, intolerance and discrimination. In 2016, the UAE introduced a Minister of State for Tolerance to support the UAE’s standing  as a country that fosters the values of tolerance by embracing intellectual, cultural, ethnic and religious diversities. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has also introduced the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace; which is based on the tolerant teachings of Islam.

 

“We, at RTA, take pride in the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to name one of the most appealing pedestrian bridges in Dubai as the Tolerance Bridge. The bridge links the two banks of the Dubai Water Canal, and is a prominent tourist attraction in Dubai and a prominent destination of visitors from within the UAE and abroad,” concluded Al Tayer.
