Al Tayer Honours 386 volunteers contributing to RTA’s initiatives
HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), honoured 386 volunteers, including 35 RTA leaders, for their active role in bringing success to various events held by RTA last year.
Al Tayer praised the importance of volunteering as part of Emarati society persona and culture, it also enables volunteers to acquire skills, knowledge and values that enhance the love of good and charity. “Volunteering has many benefits for the society such as strengthening solidarity, cooperation and the sense of belonging to the nation and the community besides bolstering interpersonal relations and communication skills between community members,” he said.
“Volunteers honoured by RTA are dedicated to serving various RTA’s events for the community, nation, humanity and the environment. Through their generous spirit, they have exerted strenuous efforts to enhance the standing of the RTA and live up to its social responsibility towards events staged across the nation or in Dubai emirate in particular,” added Al Tayer.
Al Tayer expressed his thanks to volunteers including directors and employees who volunteered a combined total of 1,232 hours, exhibiting great loyalty, sense of belonging and keenness to make such events a success. HE called for preserving such a spirit and increasing the number of volunteers during The Year of Zayed initiative launched by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This initiative is privileged by the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
RTA carried out several Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr oriented events last year, such as Al Khair Bus, Ramadan Aman, Ramadan Meer, and Farahat Eid. It had also organised several humanitarian events such as the Audio Kiosk and the White Stick; as well national events such as Flag Day, environmental events such as the Earth Hour and My Desert … My Environment; Clean up the World, and RTA’s Photos Bank.
