A Session on AI & Infrastructure Connectivity for the Cities of Tomorrow

Participants in the session Smart Horizons: AI & Infrastructure Connectivity for the Cities of Tomorrow, held on the first day of the 4th Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, reached consensus on several key points regarding the role of AI-ability in advancing the infrastructure of future smart cities, where most urban centres will be intelligent and residents will rely on smart, self-driving mobility.
The session featured contributions from Mr. Scott Nash, Senior Director at Verizon Business; Mr. Andres Castrillon, Senior Director of Government Affairs at Qualcomm; Mr. Georges Aoude, CEO and Co-Founder of Derq.; and Mr. Max Clark, Senior Vice President, EMEA CTO & Sector Manager, Parsons. The session was moderated by Mr. Steve Bell, Chief Analyst at Omdia.
The participants also stated that implementing self-driving mobility in Dubai is far easier than in other cities worldwide, thanks to the emirate’s clear vision in this field. This vision is being realised by the Roads and Transport Authority through ambitious plans, effective strategies, creativity, and continuous innovation. It is further supported by the adoption of the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence, the use of big data, and the development of the necessary infrastructure.
Dubai also nurtures global talent and innovations at both individual and institutional levels. The aim is to ensure that self-driving transport accounts for 25% of all mobility in Dubai by 2030—one of the city’s big ambitions that will help position it as the world’s smartest and happiest city.
