On the advent of the 48th National Day of the UAE, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), extended his warmest felicitations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces; Members of the Supreme Council of the Federation and Rulers of the Emirates; and Crown Princes as well as the people & residents of the UAE.

“The second of December will always remain etched in the hearts and memories of UAE citizens as a source of pride and glory. This day witnessed the announcement of the Federation of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, thanks to the efforts of the founders led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundation of a modern country. He set sight firmly on building and developing talent & infrastructure, and achieving socio-economic and urban development, which enabled the UAE to enjoy such high global standing. The UAE pursued a wise approach to foreign policy and forged regional and international relations on the principles of goodwill friendliness and respect besides lending support to countries around the world to alleviate their sufferings on humanitarian grounds,” added Al Tayer.

“The most notable achievement in the UAE is uplifting human capabilities and empowering them with skills & knowledge to steer the development drive. Now we beam with pride that the UAE National Day celebrations this year coincide with the despatch of the first Emirati to space, realising an old dream of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to have Emirati astronauts,” continued Al Tayer.

"This day is the perfect time to renew our commitment to continue to make more strides for our beloved country and build a brighter future for generations to come," concluded Al Tayer in a final remark.
