The selection of the best cabbies was based on the standards of the Taxi Service Excellence Award launched by the RTA to felicitate the best-performing taxi drivers and franchise companies of the sector.

In a speech delivered during the decoration ceremony recently held at RTA Head Office, Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency, commended the persistent daily efforts of taxi drivers in Dubai, and welcomed the attending directors of taxi franchise companies operating in the Emirate.

“We are excited to meet a bunch of excellent taxi drivers today to recognize their stellar efforts and the sense of responsible performance they have shown. They have also exhibited keenness on maintaining RTA’s image amongst various community segments, and enhancing the profile of Dubai as a reputed metropolis and a premier global hub of business, tourism and finance attractive to tourists & business leaders from all corners of the globe, thanks to its secure & safe environment, solid infrastructure and world-class services.

“Celebrating the excellent taxi drivers and taxi companies under Taxi Service Excellence Award launched last year by the RTA is just a beginning of a long drive dotted by distinguished services & strategies aimed at bringing happiness to the people, tourists and visitors of the UAE in general and Dubai in particular,” continued Al Ali.

“Decorating taxi drivers will undoubtedly motivate them to further improve services rendered to riders of taxicabs amongst residents, visitors and tourists of Dubai. Such excellent service will also add to the happiness of taxi users; which is one of the strategic goals the RTA is seeking to achieve in keeping with the Government’s drive in this field,” commented the CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency.

Decorated taxi drivers from different franchise companies were Lal Por Khan, Nasir Gul Mohammad Khan, Mohammed Farouk Mumtaz, Mohammed Shaheen Mohammed, Hassan Ali Khan, Suleiman Ali Al-Rifaaei, Iftikhar Ali Sardar, Taymor Gul Ali Gul, in addition to Bakhti Rasool and Shahed Ali.

Honorees expressed deep gratitude and pleasure with this kind gesture; which, they say, is a clear testament to the paramount attention the RTA pays to the taxi sector reflected in decorating high-performing cabbies who are strict in complying with RTA regulations and traffic rules in place.

The Award seeks to nurture a competitive environment between franchise companies to achieve excellent service standards, up the traffic safety and awareness levels, and contribute to raising the satisfaction of taxi users in a bid to make them happier. It also seeks to motivate cabbies of franchise companies to innovate, excel and show more job commitment, improve drivers’ efficiency & attitudes, and enhance the service offering of franchise companies. The RTA is always keen to upgrade the taxi service in Dubai and introduce new technologies that meet the needs of various customers, especially under the drive advocated by the Dubai Government to transform Dubai into a smart city that offers added happiness to residents and visitors.

It is worth-mentioning that felicitating drivers is an ongoing process throughout the year as the RTA is planning to continue decorate excellent drivers in the second, third and fourth quarters of this year. Best-performing franchise companies will be honored during the fourth quarter as well.
