Al Tayer briefs French delegation on RTA’s future projects

The two parties discussed means of cooperation and exchanging expertise in improving rail networks. The gathering was also attended from the RTA by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Board Member; and Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Rail Operations.

Al Tayer started the meeting by commending the efforts of French firms and entities in accomplishing some of RTA’s rail projects where Thales Group had set up the signals control system, communication system between the control room and trains and between trains. Systra Company also acted as Consultant of the Dubai Metro project both the Red and Green Line. A host of French companies were also involved in the construction of the Dubai Tram project as part of the Consortium of French Alstom Company, Belgium Besix Company, British Serco Company, and the American Parsons De Leuw, Cather Overseas Ltd.

Al Tayer briefed the French delegation on rail projects the RTA intends to undertake over the next few years including the expansion of the Red & Green Lines of the Dubai Metro, Phase II of the Dubai Tram project, and widening the scope of public transport system through opening new bus routes to cater to the huge growth of ridership. Future projects offer a perfect opportunity for companies to take part in tenders released by the RTA, he said.

HE Michel MIRAILLET expressed his deep delight to see French firms engaged in giant projects undertaken by the RTA and renewed his country’s intention to broaden the scope of cooperation and bilateral relations with the RTA. He indicated that the meeting offered a good opportunity to share expertise between the French companies and the RTA in constructing and managing the infrastructure of roads and mass transit sector.
