RTA rolls out 64 ideas to promote reading culture

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has held a brainstorming session to disseminate the culture of reading and encourage people to read more. The event concurs with the UAE initiative designating 2016 as a year of reading, and the Dubai Government’s drive to disseminate the culture of reading across government bodies in the Emirate.

Scores of Specialists and Promising Experts attended the brainstorming session entitled “Creative Ideas for the Year of Reading,” from RTA’s national staff. The session generated 64 creative ideas in support of RTA’s strategy to enrich the culture of reading, which in turn will boost the knowledge and innovation.

“RTA’s Development and Corporate Performance Dep’t has held this workshop that resulted in developing 64 creative ideas for encouraging people to read in a bid to epitomize RTA’s efforts in making 2016 a year of reading. This array of creative ideas would prompt employees to broaden their knowledge base and help them shape a better future, besides turning the concept of the Learning Organization into a reality,” said Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director of Development and Corporate Performance, RTA’s Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector.

“Reading results in broadening the knowledge base, and accordingly hones the ability to innovate. It opens the way for a raft of creative ideas, and sharpens the intellectual abilities to unleash more creative ideas for the benefit of the community development. Reading results in accumulated knowledge which offers the potential of sorting out problems through a modern and scientific approach. There is an adage that ‘reading more tantamounts to living longer’, as we tend to know more people and places that we haven’t seen or visited,” he continued.

Al Suwaidi was thrilled with the dedication of employees during the workshop in rolling out innovative ideas, and their keenness to leverage the reading drive. He stressed RTA’s commitment to support knowledge through motivational internal initiatives bearing prizes in line with its relentless efforts to broaden cultural orientation, and enhance the knowledge & excellence drive.
