Improvements along Sheikh Zayed Road

Project Description
- 7 Improvements to ease traffic flow along Sheikh Zayed Road
- Extension of Exit 39 (near Mall of Emirates) from 1 lane to 2 lanes, to facilitate an additional 1,800 vehicles per hour.
- Improvements to Umm Amara Street towards the Safia Park Interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road
- Providing further access to Sheikh Zayed Road from Al Thowima Street in Al Barsha near the Novotel Hotel.
- Creating an extra lane in Sheikh Zayed Road, close to Shangri-la Hotel and the first interchange, in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
- The addition of a third lane at the Dubai Mall exit to increase capacity from 1,800 to 5,400 vehicles per hour
- The introduction of a new lane on the Sharjah bound side of Sheikh Zayed road close to the first interchange and nearby Dusit Thani hotel facilitating 1,800 additional vehicles per hour.
- Improvements to the entry and exit points on Al Manara interchange in the direction of Sharjah, raising capacity from 10,800 to 12,600 vehicles per hour
- Adding a single lane near the exit to the service road, after Noor Bank Metro Station in the direction of Umm Al Shief exit
Project Benefits
- Reduces journey time from Sheikh Zayed Road to Umm Suqeim from 12 minutes to 1.45 minutes
- Reduces traffic queues from 1km to 50m.
- Eases bottlenecks at Umm Amara Street roundabout and improves traffic flow in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
- Reduces traffic and improves circulation at Trade Centre roundabout.
- Eases congestion on the service road at Al Thowima Street in Al Barsha.
