Key Traffic Enhancements on Umm Suqeim Street
The new street, which runs 500 metres and consists of two lanes in each direction, connects the school's entrances to the recently constructed detour in the area.
Two Bridges as Part of Al Khail Road Development Project
The project includes opening two major bridges at Zaa’beel and Al Quoz 1 on Al Khail Road in the direction of Jebel Ali. The completed bridges span 1,350 metres and have a combined capacity of about 8,000 vehicles per hour. The completion rate has reached 80% in Al Khail Road Development Project, involving the construction of 3,300-metre-long bridges and the widening of lanes stretching over 6,820 metres.
Implementing traffic improvements to Majan and Al Barari entrances and exits towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road

Traffic Improvements in Al Safa 1 Schools Complex

20 Air-Conditioned Rest Areas for Delivery Riders
The construction of rest areas aligns with the significant growth in the delivery sector in recent years, addressing the public's increasing demand for goods. As of the end of last June 2024, the number of companies providing delivery services by motorcycles in Dubai reached 2,535 with a total of 40,088 delivery bikes in operation. The locations for the rest areas were selected through an analysis of operational data and by studying areas with the highest demand for delivery services, in coordination with delivery companies. As a result, rest areas have been constructed in the following areas: Hessa Street, Al Barsha Heights, Al Barsha, Al Karama, Riggat Al Buteen, Umm Suqeim (Jumeirah 3), Jumeirah (Al Wasl Road), The Greens, Dubai World Trade Centre, Al Rashdiya, Al Satwa, Nad Al Hamar, Al Nahda, Oud Metha, Arabian Ranches, International City, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Al Jaddaf, Mirdif, Last Exit Al Khawaneej, Dubai Motor City, and Al Garhoud.
Construction of 10 Truck Rest Stops
Construction of 10 Truck Rest Stops in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The trucks rest Stops strategically distributed across six key locations, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road, Dubai - Hatta Road, Dubai - Al Ain Road, Jebel Ali - Lehbab Road, and Al Awir Road, all of which attract a high volume of daily truck traffic. The rest areas cover over 75,000 square metres with an operational capacity exceeding 5,000 trucks and heavy vehicles and 700 parking slots. Each rest area spans 5,000 to 10,000 square metres, with the capacity to accommodate 30 to 45 trucks and heavy vehicles. The facilities include service amenities, prayer rooms, diesel refueling stations, and driver rest rooms.
Widening of Exit 55 to Al Rebat Street
The project focuses on traffic improvements on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, including the surface expansion of Exit 55 leading to Al Rebat Street. The enhancements involve increasing the traffic overlap distance and adding a new lane, bringing the total number of lanes to three.
Bike and Scooter Tracks in Hatta
The new cycling track starts at the backyard of Hatta Community Centre, passes through the existing pedestrian bridge at Leem Lake, and joins with the existing track in Wadi Hatta Park. The track connects to the Hatta Guest House area and links with the existing track at Hatta Police Roundabout, running up to Hatta Sports Club before branching out as shared tracks with the existing streets in Almasiaf area near Al-Salmi. The project aims to encourage people to use individual mobility means and exercise, as such contributing to realising Dubai's ambitions and cementing its leading position among the top bicycle-friendly cities.
Traffic enhancements on 3 Key streets in Al Mankhool
Traffic improvement works on three main streets in Al Mankhool. These improvements aim to bolster the city's flourishing economic activities and accommodate its growing population while maintaining Dubai's status as a prime business hub and enhancing the quality of life.
Completion of internal road works in different areas
The internal roads project in Al Qusais Industrial areas 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 has enhanced connectivity with four main streets: Amman Street, Beirut Street, Aleppo Street, and Damascus Street. It has also improved access and exit points to over 320 workshops, 25 residential buildings, shops, and educational facilities, benefiting an estimated 60,000 residents in the area. RTA has recently completed internal road and streetlighting projects in four residential areas: Margham, Lahbab, Al Lisaili, and Hatta, covering 35 km. Additional Road works are underway in Lahbab and Al Lisaili to meet the residents' needs.
Expansion roads works in Al Mizhar
Infrastructure enhancements on Streets A11 and A26 in Al Mizhar area. The project involved widening two streets from two to four lanes in both directions, covering a total distance of 6.8 km.
900 lighting units to LED technology along 9 km of Sheikh Rashid Street
Upgrading 900 lighting units along 9 km of Sheikh Rashid Street to energy-efficient LED lighting type. This project serves motorists using the road in both directions across 10 lanes over 9 km, enhancing the sustainability of road lighting in the emirate.
Road widening works over 1 km on two sites in Al Jaddaf and Business Bay
1 km of road widening works at two locations at Al Jaddaf and Business Bay. The first location involved widening Al Khail Road over 600 metres at Al Jaddaf by adding a new lane to increase traffic flow towards Deira.
Traffic solutions in Hatta, Oud Al Muteena1, and Al Sufouh1
These projects aimed at improving the efficiency of the roads network, easing traffic movement, eliminating traffic jam, and elevating safety levels for all road users in the emirate.
Widening of Ras Al Khor Road 3 km from Bu Kadra Intersection to Al Khail Intersection
Ras Al Khor Road Widening Project from 3 to 4 lanes along a 3 km stretch in both directions. Works extend from the Bu Kadra intersection to the Al Khail Road intersection.
Qualifying Facilities for use by People of Determination
A total of 26 buildings and facilities have been qualified to meet the set standards, encompassing the Head Office, 15 bus stations, four multi-level parking terminals, 2 customer happiness centres, 5 administrative buildings and Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station.
Construction works of internal roads at Margham, Lehbab, Al Lesaili, and Hatta
Construction works on the internal roads and streetlighting project at Margham, Lehbab, Al Lesaili, and Hatta. The project works spanned 35 km: 18 km of roadwork, and the addition of lighting poles along another 17 km of existing streets
Cycling tracks in Al Khawaneej and Mushrif
New cycling tracks have been in Al Khawaneej and Mushrif extending 7 km to connect with the existing tracks in the two districts, which already span 32 km.
Al Majasimi and Al Wasl Road Intersection
Inaugurating a new signalised junction at Al Majasimi intersection and Al Wasl Road, situated between Umm Suqeim Street and Al Thanya Street.
Algeria Street Improvement
The Algeria Street Improvement Project stretching 2 km from the intersection of Algeria Street and Al Khawaneej Street (South) to the intersection of Tunis Street (North) at Al Muhaisnah (1) and Al Mizhar (1).

Two footbridges on Ras Al Khor Road
The inauguration of the two bridges affirms the commitment to enhancing traffic safety, providing safe mobility means for pedestrian crossing, and fostering wellbeing to bring more happiness to residents and visitors of Dubai. These two bridges are characterised by attractive designs and are fitted with hi-tech electromechanical systems, alarms, firefighting, remote monitoring systems, and dedicated bike racks.
Development of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor
The project was carried out in two phases. The first phase involved widening Ras Al Khor Road from three to four lanes in each direction and constructing a two-lane service road on both sides. The aim was to increase traffic safety and flow while eliminating the existing overlapping traffic spots. It boosted the road’s capacity to 10,000 vehicles per hour and cut the travel time from 20 minutes to about 7 minutes.
Quick Traffic Solutions on Al Seba Street
Improvements and quick traffic management solutions on Al Seba Street in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road - Garn Al Sabkha Street intersection.
Cycling underpass at Meydan
A new tunnel specifically designed for cyclists in Meydan area. This tunnel spans 160m in length and 6.6m in width, with a capacity to accommodate approximately 800 bicycles per hour.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street Improvement
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street Improvement Project extending 3 km from the intersection with the Dubai-Al Ain Road up to the Academic City Roundabout.

Improvements of Al Manama Street, which is part of the Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project.
Construction of internal roads in 3 residential areas
The construction of internal road networks in three residential areas, namely Al Quoz 2, Nad Al Sheba 2 and Al Barsha South 3 extending 37 km in total.
Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement
The scope of the Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project spans 17 km from the intersection of Emirates Road to the intersection of Ras Al Khor Road along the Dubai-Al Ain Road. Construction works included widening the road from three to six lanes in each direction, and constructing six main interchanges along with bridges and ramps stretching 11.5 km.
Saih Al-Dahal Road Improvement Project
The Saih Al-Dahal Road Improvement Project, which links Saih Al-Salam Road with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The the old single-lane road has been removed and replaced it with a dual carriageway extending 11 km comprising two lanes in each direction, along with a median and three roundabouts. The new road will link with the entry points of Al Qudra Lakes which increases the road capacity from an existing 1800 vehicles to 4000 vehicles in each direction.
The Infinity Bridge
The Infinity Bridge which is 295 meters long, 56.5 meters wide with the ability to accommodate 24,000 vehicles in both directions. It rises 15.5 meters high above the creek levels, allowing complete freedom of movement to large boats and yachts around the clock.
New Bridge on Manama and Al Meydan Roads
The new bridge, which links Al Manama and Al Meydan Streets, is part of the Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project currently under construction by RTA. The project scope covers constructing six key intersections and widening the road from 3 to 6 lanes in each direction over a 17 km stretch from the intersection with the Emirates Road to the intersection of Bu Kadra and Ras Al Khor.
Enterprise Command & Control Centre Systems (EC3)
The EC3 uses artificial intelligence in managing accidents and mobile phone data in planning and managing mobility and crowds, which enables identifying the density of crowds through thermal indicators. Thus, it automatically locates gathering spots and directs transportation means to serve them. It connects all mass transport systems such as the metro, tram, public buses, taxis, and marine transport means.
Bridge at Nad Al Sheba Interchange
The construction of Nad Al Sheba interchange is part of the Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project currently undertaken by RTA. It involves constructing six key intersections along the road and widening it from 3 to 6 lanes in each direction. The project spans a 17 km sector from the junction of Dubai-Al Ain Road with Emirates Road up to Bu Kadra-Ras Al Khor intersection.
Internal Roads at Al Khawaneej 2
The project aims to accommodate the current and projected future growth of traffic. It contributes to slashing the travel time between the Emirates Road and the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from 25 minutes to 9 minutes, and the waiting time at the junction of Al Khawaneej-Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Roads (Al Khawaneej Roundabout) from 330 seconds to just 45 seconds. It also doubles up the capacity of the junction from 8,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour, and halves the waiting time at the intersection of Al Khawaneej-Al Amardi Roads, which has been upgraded from a roundabout to a surface junction, from 120 seconds to 60 second.
Al Khawaneej Corridor
The project aims to accommodate the current and projected future growth of traffic. Pedestrians and Cyclists Bridge Over Ras Al Khor Road
The new bridge has a steel and concrete structure that required the transportation of 370 tons of structural steel to the site in four different pieces. A reinforced concrete layer was then placed on the upper deck of the bridge. The bridge spans 475 metres in length, which includes a steel structure part that extends 110 metres. The bridge is built on three concrete pillars and connects with ascending and descending slopes on both sides extending about 180 metres. The bridge extends five metres in width: three metres for cyclists and two meters for pedestrians. It is fitted with slip-resisting flooring and subdued decorative lighting. It has metal railings on both sides for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
Three Bus Stations in Jafiliya, Qusais, and Dubai Metro
The construction of public bus stations complements RTA’s efforts to improve the public transport infrastructure and to encourage people to use mass transit means in their daily movement. The new stations boast of an innovative engineering design that blends the practical interior with a superb exterior. It employs the construction elements to serve and form part of the architectural design. The new generation of public bus stations is designed to serve the needs of highly populated areas as well as the current and future requirements for public bus services. The design also caters to the needs of sustainability and people of determination, yet coherent with the identity and shape of RTA’s stations
Route 2020 Project
The selection of stations for operation was based on several perimeters namely the density of population nearby the station, anticipated number of riders, commercial activities in the area served by the stations, and the link with other public transit means at each station.
Improvements along Sheikh Zayed Road
The 1st improvement was the widening of Exit 39 (near Mall of Emirates) from one lane to two lanes, which doubled the intake of the road from 1800 vehicles to 3600 vehicles per hour. As such, it shorted the journey time from Sheikh Zayed Road to Umm Suqeim from 12 minutes to 1.45 minute and reduced the length of the queue from 1000 m to 50 m only, the 2nd involved improving Umm Amara Street in the direction of Safa Park Interchange to ease the bottleneck at the R/A and increase the flow of traffic in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed-Al Rebat Roads Intersection Improvement
The completed works included the addition of one lane to Al Rebat and Tripoli Streets and the widening of the existing bridges. The improvements will enhance the link between Dubai and Sharjah emirates, ease the traffic flow, and improve the safety along the corridor.
Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Centre
The facility is considered one of the biggest and most sophisticated traffic control centres worldwide in terms of smart technology use and the management of traffic systems.
A pedestrian bridge in the Dubai Marina district
The design of the bridge frontage is inspired by the urban nature of the area with a shape and colour that fit well with the pattern of surrounding buildings. The curved shape of the bridge emulates the coastal areas in great harmony with the neighbourhood. The bridge enables pedestrians to move freely between the four sides of the junction, thus avoiding any stop at light signals.
Deira Palm Entrance Bridge
The newly constructed bridges and roads provide access points to and from Deira Islands at the intersection of Al Khaleej-Abu Baker Al Siddique Streets. The bridges span 2,571 metres in length and have a total capacity of 20,700 vehicles per hour, the intersection consists of several bridges starting with a 2-lane bridge that extends 472 metres and provides free traffic for motorists on Al Khaleej St. heading northwards to Deira Islands at a capacity of 3000 vehicles per hour. The second is a three-lane bridge that extends 503 metres and provides free traffic from Deira Islands in the direction of Al Shindagha Tunnel at a capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour.
The bridge leading to Dubai Creek Harbour
The project, which includes the construction of a new bridge of 3 lanes and 740-metre length, links the traffic inbound from Dubai-Al Ain Road and Al Khail Road heading Eastwards to Dubai Creek – Dubai Creek Harbour. The bridge has a capacity of 7500 vehicles per hour in the entry direction, and 3000 vehicles per hour in the exit direction. The project includes the construction of a new street of 4 lanes in each direction extending 1.5 km in addition to entry/exit points from and to the newly constructed buildings, to ease the movement of traffic inbound from Nadd Al Hamar Street-Ras Al Khor Road junction.
Bridges leading to Dubai Hills Mall
The completion of roads and bridges leading to Dubai Hills Mall along with the associated infrastructure works and improvements of Umm Suqeim Street provide direct entry and exit points for the area from and to Al Khail Road and Umm Suqeim Street. This ensures a seamless traffic flow to and from the Dubai Hills Mall. The project provides three entry points to those coming from Deira, Umm Suqeim and Jebel Ali as well as direct exit points to Al Khail Road and Umm Suqeim Street. This increases the capacity of Umm Suqeim Street and junctions; which streamlines the traffic flow in both directions of the street. Such improvements slash the transit time on Umm Suqeim Street in the sector between Mohammed bin Zayed and Al Khail Roads from 18 to 7 minutes.
Two pedestrian bridges on Khalid Bin Al Waleed and Al Marabea streets
The first bridge crosses over Khalid bin Al Waleed Street at Bur Dubai nearby Ascot Hotel. It links the two sides of a very busy street buzzing with year-round trading activities. The bridge is fitted with lifts to ease the movement of people between the two sides of the street. The second bridge is built on Al Marabea' Street at Al Quoz. It mainly serves residents of the neighbourhood, and labours community. The bridge is fitted with ramps to streamline the movement of users. The construction of this bridge is expected to fend off the casual crossing of the street, which translates into fewer runover accidents.
Internal roads in the Sama Al-Jadaf area and Oud Al Muteena 1
The construction of internal roads at Sama Al Jaddaf is part of our efforts to improve the infrastructure of roads, lighting, and rainwater drainage systems in residential areas to cope with the demographic and urban expansion in the Emirate and bring happiness to people. The project included the construction of roads extending 12 km, two signalised junctions and street-lighting works.
Roads Leading to Expo 2020
The concluding phase of the project covered the construction of two flyovers on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to ensure a smooth traffic flow from and to the site of Expo (to be opened gradually in coordination with the office of Expo 2020) in addition to road works extending 16 km, first is Expo Interchange; which included the construction of two 6-lane bridges to serve the traffic movement from Dubai, Sharjah and other Emirates accessing the parking lot of Expo. Works also included the construction of two 2-lane bridges for vehicles coming from Abu Dhabi heading to Expo and a 2-lane bridge to ease the exit of vehicles from Expo to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
