RTA Corporate Safety and Environmental Sustainability Policy
This policy is written in the best interests of all stakeholders: customers, employees, suppliers, contractors, partners and the community in which RTA operates. In engaging its stakeholders through communication of this policy and providing opportunities for continual feedback, RTA will share with them the responsibility for meeting the requirements of this policy. RTA’s leadership carries the ultimate responsibility of ensuring that the commitments within this policy are carried out and review the policy annually for its continued relevance, appropriateness and effectiveness.
RTA is committed to be the legislative authority to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain integrated solutions of road systems and land / marine transportation networks for Dubai, while striving to prevent cases of injury and illness at various RTA’s activities and locations, and to preserve and enhance our cultural and natural resources and unique sense of place.
RTA shall work to integrate Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy considerations into its strategic planning and adopt feasible, lower impact alternatives and mitigation measures in its business decisions during the design, construction, operation and maintenance of road systems and land / marine transportation networks for which it is the designated Regulatory Authority in Dubai, the U.A.E.
All Health and Safety risks, Environmental impacts associated with Dubai road systems and land / marine transportation networks development and operation shall be reduced to levels, which are “As Low As Reasonably Practicable” (ALARP).
RTA shall work with Federal and Local Authorities, relevant Public Agencies, Public Interest Groups and the Private Sector to ensure the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Dubai road systems and land/marine transportation networks comply with, or exceed, relevant Local and/or Federal and/or International Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy requirements, Legal requirements.
Dubai road systems and land / marine transportation networks shall be engineered to ensure that operation and maintenance activities will incorporate safeguarding of Health and Safety at work, the protection and improvement of Environment and Energy performance improvement opportunities, and during the design and purchasing process. This includes the conservation of natural resources, reduction of waste and prevention of pollution, through proficient management and by adopting leading practices where appropriate.
RTA shall establish Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy objectives and targets in line with its Strategic Plan, implement programs to achieve these and continually measure and monitor its activities and progress against the committed objectives.
RTA shall provide resources and endeavor to lead, motivate, empower, engage and train its employees to achieve their objectives and targets, and encourage prevention principles, environmental stewardship ethics and energy efficient practices by ensuring availability of information at all levels.
RTA is committed to continually improve its Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy performance and to communicate results with all stakeholders in order to maintain a relationship based on honesty, openness and mutual trust.
RTA's Safety and Environmental Management System shall include Health Safety, Environmental and Energy considerations for all modes for Dubai road systems and land/marine transportation networks operation.
