The retail project is also maximizing riders’ happiness as it is helping in improving services to the metro passengers and surrounding neighborhoods. These outlets offer unique business opportunities for the retail sector in the Dubai Metro enabling its passengers to take advantage of the convenience of utilizing retail located along their daily routes of travel. It also provide businesses and companies direct access to the growing population of the Metro riders.
Kiosks and Pop-Ups
The Rail Agency is implementing a new Retail Services Program in the Metro rail system serving Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Program provides retail services, permanent and portable retail merchandising units (RMU) at interior locations at selected Metro stations across Red and Green Lines. Metro Passengers and the general public will be able to purchase a wide variety of convenience retail items or interact with agents of leased RMU.
The Pop up gives more flexibility than static kiosks as retailer can propose alternative types of business activities than the standard static kiosk type like movable carts. Retailers are responsible for providing their own pop up kiosk and will have to propose a design that is in line with Dubai Metro and Station Design requirements and RTA Fit-out guidelines.
